1st surgeon Appt.(long)
Hi Jodi,
Just got to your original post about your first consultation with the dr.
I know it sounds all to easy to go in and bo om just have surgery to loose weight. But ideally what we want and what happens are two different stories. Now if you were going to a mechanic to have your car fixed wouldnt you want to check to see what the problems are (trouble shoot) before putting in a new part that may or may not work at at all.
I guess what I am getting at is weight loss surgery is not a cure.We did not go in one day have surgery and then the next day boom loose weight. The part with the dr wanting you to see and exercise therapist, dietician, and even a behavorist is for a reason. Have we been successful in any of our other diets and why not.
The big part about weight loss surgery is that it is not a cure but is a TOOL. These drs want to make sure you are ready to use your tool correctly. It is not cut and dry or black and white. I hope you do follow thru with what the dr. have told you he would like you to follow. Have you ever been on a regimented diet before this. example...weigh****chers, adkins,,etc...Dont get discouraged just remember everything you are doing is for the benefit of your weight loss surgery later.
Peace Out
Linda

Hello.. what turned me off to this Dr is that he has only performed 8 surgeries. He is a "general" surgeon before he is a Bariatric surgeon.
Yes I have been to WW, TOPS, Registered dietician, Jenny Craig, Atkins, South Beach... WW has far been the best for me. I loose 50 pounds very quickly and then comes right back on. I need help, that is why I am seaking a surgeons advise. A EXPERIENCED surgeon I might add. No one has even heard of the surgen I went to last week. Dr Jaret Beane. So I know I have made a good decision in going to MMPC where my PCP wanted me to go to in the first place. Lets get the ball rolling now. I cant wait!
