Boil up some cauliflower and dry it. Add some cheese while it's hot and mix it up like mashed potatoes. Get some re-fried beans, low fat sour cream and low sodium natural salsa. Heat up the beans and put three tablespoons in the bowl with a little salsa and sour cream- burrito without the carbs load. NO MCDONALDS. kp

Sherry, I did just what Kevin said....I made myself a little taco salad just about every night.  But, I am not a total no carber....I added about 4 crushed up baked tostitos to it.  I think that's ok as long as you monitor yourself.   Can you do eggs?  I know those bother some people but an egg scrambled up with some lf cheese and a touch of lean ham is good too.   Try to make a little chicken salad if tuna doesn't sit right.  I know it's frustrating now because everything is so new.  I promise in a few months you will have all this down pat and won't have to agonize over every meal decision.  I was just telling my support group yesterday that at over a year out I can walk through a buffet and know right away what's a good choice and what will sit well.  Just get yourself through this time with some stand by's that you like.

I am going to stand up and give my 2 cents here for you Sherry! I understand you are having a hard time with food and "making good choices" but I have to say if you can tolerate a Mc Donalds cheeseburger with no bun......go for it!  everyone has their opinions of what you should and should not do, but if it comes down to it and it is either eat a McD's cheeseburger or not get your protein in.....eat the damn thing! I feel I have done very well myself and you know what.......I still eat out with my family!  I refuse to deprive myself of ANYTHING........I have been on too many diets where I have deprived myself and once I gave in I over indulged in what ever it was I was depriving myself of. the key is moderation not deprivation! As far as the pea soup goes, in my opinion that was a great choice.  Split pea soup with ham is high in protein.  The corn muffin is wat gave you problems I am sure.  could have been it was too heavy to tolerate or it could have been the sugar content.  either way that may not have been a wise choice, but it was still YOUR choice and now you have learned. I was going to email this to you, but I am sure there are others that want to hear from someone like me who did what worked not necessarily what was "the best choice". Hang in there, it does get easier as time goes on and you will find that you will be able to make what some call "the right choice".  I commend you for your honesty and searching for help.

no. you're posting the most rediculous things on this board every other day. like you did no research about the surgery, like you have no idea what post op living is like. you dont even know what you're supposed to feed yourself? everyone has been very kind to you and Extremely patient with you. you shoved a mcdonalds greasy cheeseburger in a surgically altered stomach. ONE MONTH after Major surgery! i suggest you go to the failed wls board and make friends with the posters there and compare notes and you will see that you are headed down the very same path.  oh, and you dont refer to protein in the plural form.. 70-100 grams of protein a day. not proteins.

"you're posting the most rediculous things on this board every other day."  Please forgive me if I am wrong ~but this sounds very mean and totally uncalled for.  Some people need more help than others. Just because you didn't need as much help as Sherry doesn't mean you have to be so rude to her. We are here to help each other. Sometimes some people need a kick in the rump, sometimes they need a gentle hand. Sometimes (albeit rare) someone may fall through the cracks pre-op, and not know what to do post-op. Maybe she is just so overwhelmed by everything she has and is going through that she can't remember all (or any) of the post-op rules. Please remember that even if we feel frustrated by someone, sometimes it's better to bite our tounges and not say such mean thing's, but give advice that will help instead of hurt. Thank you for reading. God bless, Annette

God bless,
