Tummy hangs/scars and other fun things....

After reviewing some before/after plastics pics, my DH says he would rather I didn't have a TT.  The scaring is a bit much for him.  (I have to give TMI and say that my scars heal with keloids, which are really raised bumps).  I always thought my hanging tummy was grossing him out, but he said he never even thinks about it.  How can that be?  It's all I think about! After he said that, I realized that I really wanted my arms and breasts done first, but was going to push the TT because of how I thought he felt.  It's funny what marriage will do to you, huh? So has anyone else had this happen?  Of course I realize that it is my body and I ultimately decide what to do with it, but you have to admit that input from the significant other must count for something.

Having not ever had a TT, or any other type of plastic surgery. However, I think I can give you a males perspective on scars and hanging skin. I have had the opportunity to see many different scars from various plastic surgerys, and many of the scars look bad. From the husbands point of view, I think I could have lived with some sagging skin. On the other side, I have seen some scars that were very hard to see, very clean, even, etc. I think its probably hard to tell exactly how a persons scars will turn out until afterwards. I think I am babbling, but in closing, for a little excess skin I think i would just live with it. Where as that person who has excess amount of excess skin I think medically its a good idea to have the plastic surgery. Did I answer the question or just mumble in circles? Thanks for allowing me to mumble

Brenda i so understand what you're saying.   My hubby wants my butt lifted and my breasts done, he doesn't care about any thing else being done.   The biggest thing i want done is my arms.....they are horrible and i hate having to wear 3/4 length sleeves, especially since i'm working outside.   My legs are horrible also, but wearing capri's or long shorts is fine with me, i've seen too many horror stories with the legs and ps.   But what i NEED to have done first is the tt.   I probably have 15 or more pounds of skin, and it's causing pain in the nerves in my back and my hips.....my pcp wants me to get it done asap.    I am planning to start the ps journey in the fall when i'm laid off and hopefully getting unemployment.    That way i can afford to stay home and heal.  Hugs Linda

Sounds like he likes you the way you are.  Pretty cool! The plastic surgeon at the OH seminar mentioned that some folks go back in after their plastics have healed to have the resulting keloids "shaved" off.  He said it reduced the visible scars considerably.  I have heard several plastic surgeons say that arms and thighs scar the most and have the least satisfactory results.  But if you don't get back aches or rashes or have trouble getting clothes to fit, maybe you don't really need the surgery?  And on a completely different topic, did you go to see the no hitter the other night?

I TiVoed the game because I was nursing two very sick boys....everyone kept calling me and I was screaming into the phone DON'T TELL ME WHAT'S HAPPENING!!  I finally did watch it around midnight and was jumping up and down, but no screaming. How did I miss the doc talking about keloids?  Must have been distracted by KP's kilt I am with Linda on the arms thing....they just kind of spill out of short sleeves and I'm so self conscious about it.  I watched Big Medicine yesterday and I almost passed out when they were going over the drains.  I'm such a baby. Thanks everyone for your input.
