Long post (sorry) - Need advice please
Kathy
Your BMI shouldn't make a difference in what surgery you have. Have you gone to OH Lap band message board? http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/lapband/a,messageboard/boa rd_id,5359/
also I know there is a yahoo group for lap banders with high BMI's I 'm thinkg it's called something like etraordinary banders. Someone on the OH Lap Band board should be able to tell you more about it.
With the band your head really really really has to be in the right place. Since there is no malapsorption the weight loss is slower. Without the threat of dumping the temptation to eat things you shouldn't is greater. One of the big advantages of the band is there is no limited window of opurtunity like there is with the RNY. The band is always there and and can be adjusted to help you as needed.
Best of luck in your weight loss journey,
Mary C
Mary,
Thank you for the response. I really appreciate it! I will definitely check into the yahoo group. I have lurked a lot on the OH Lap-Band board and posted a few times. I do believe I've finally reached the point where my head is in the right place. I don't really care how long it takes me to lose all the weight as long as I can get most of it off eventually. I really care more about how I feel and move so I can have LOTS of fun with my 13 mo. old.
