Just wondering, do you make the pudding with the protien shake, or just add powder, and if powder, what kind do you reccomend. I am having trouble getting the protien in. I get the water I need, but am having trouble with protien. I am almost 3 weeks out. the salmon patties look good though. Do you use the packs like the canned ones? or the envelope kind? or is it a different one altogether? I am at the soft food stage.

Thanks a bunch for the recipie though. It will come in Handy.

I just bought the S/F Pudding cups and dumped it into a bowl and added a scoop of protein shake.   I use the packet of salmon that is boneless and skinless. Stacey B

Thanks for the salmon patty recipe!  I"m eating them right now and they're delicious!!  I loved salmon patties before surgery, but I always made mine with egg and mashed potatoes.  Obviously I wouldn't eat them that way now, so this was awesome!! Thanks again!

Ok sweetie....like Annette said, stay away from the chips.  They are evil, evil things and will lure you in to trouble! Try making a hot turkey "sandwich" without the bread (or even 1/2 a slice of bread but toast it first and use a good quality whole grain bread).  Use 2T smartbalance spread, or any of those other good for you fake butters, melt it, whisk in 2T whole wheat flour, cook for a minute.  Whisk in a can of low salt chicken broth and a tsp of poultry seasoning.  Voila!  Gravy!  Dunk in some deli turkey (preferrably low sodium).  It feels like real food, but it's not going to kill you.  This helped me a ton because about 2 months out I felt like I wasn't eating normally because nothing I ate was hot.  I was eating yogurt and cottage cheese, but it didn't feel like a meal.  I have had to learn that "normal" doesn't mean a lot of food.  You will get used to it.  Just experiement.  Go to food network.com and search under Ellie Kreiger or Low Carb and Lovin' it.  You can get good ideas from there, and learn to swap out things like butter for lower cal alternatives.   Good Luck!

Think protein first, and second and third at this poin in the journey. Only fix a tiny bit of whatever, you don't want to be defeated by a "normal" portion.

Tuna mixed with some mayo or Miracle Whip for slipperiness.
Cottage cheese, alone, with chives and Miracle Whip or with sugar-free jams and jellies.  Some mix it with sugar free Jell-o powder, I dunno.
Cheese, any kind, but read the wrappers for the best protein/fat mix.
A soft boiled egg.  The were evil for me but your mileage could vary.
Wendys (Tim Horton's) chili, but just a bite or two. That which bothered once may be just fine the next time.  Besides, some of us look at gas as free entertainment.  Or population control.
Fat free refried beans.
A spoonful of creamy peanut butter, licked slowly.
Really soft rotisserie chicken at someone else's house.  Just eat a bit of dark meat and avoid the leftovers, they can get too tough.
Mix a vanilla protein drink and put it over spoon sized shredded wheat, Cheerios, or another whole grain, VERY LOW SUGAR cereal.  If you have been okayed for cereal, that is.

In other words, get the protein down by any means necessary, including holding your nose and drinking the stuff.  We don't want you to be sick, and you need the protein and the fluids to avoid it.

I know Annette went through the same program, YOU GOTTA LISTEN TO HER.

You know, it seems like the bad stuff is always easier to get down, but don't do it.   You need nutrition now more than ever.    I didn't worry about calories, i worried about protein.    Cook your chicken in beef broth and cook it to death so its tender and juicy.....add what ever seasoning you like.    Some times i put taco seasoning and then eat it with cheddar  cheese and sour cream or salsa....or you could just cook it and dip in ranch.    If i eat anything with beans, like chili, i put a couple drops of beano in it so i don't end up with all the gas, it works for me.   You'll get the eating thing, it just takes practice.    Believe me, the first two months are the worst.     How's the weight loss going? Hey friend,    I know how you feel, I have been there! In the beginning I had to find creative ways to get in my protein; because it is so key to everything you must also! GNC has a can protein drink called 50 grand slam; (chocolate, vanilla, cookies & cream, banana). I only drank half a can at one time; mixed with lowfat milk; because our bodies can only absorb 30 mg of protein at one time it is best to split it up! When you take in more protein you will begin to feel a whole lot better; and your health and weight loss will improve tremendously! Triscuts also worked well for me; I like the flavored ones the best! Triscuts have protein and are a great sourse of fiber for the other problem if you get what I mean. LOL Cheese is also a great sourse of protein, cottage cheese, cream cheese on a triscut. I also found thin sliced deli turkey went well too.. Good luck.. Keep on going.. Judy R
