Hello Everyone, I had a brachioplasty done on Wednesday last week.  The pain was a bit more than I had anticipated. Just wondering if anyone can share their experience with me.  The incision lines are looking wonderful. Just curious if this is going to go away soon.  Thanks! Melody

Congrats Melody!!! Please keep us posted on your recovery.  I know that I will want that surgery in about a year from now and I would like to know how it is for you.  I live in Northern Michigan too. Who was your surgeon? Did you also have a tummy tuck with him?  Do you like him? Best of luck!! Joni

Dr. Thomas in Traverse City did my brachioplasty.  He has done a great job. My incision is so prefect and looks so clean.  He came highly recommended from so many people that I know and I am also in the medical field and many of my co workers know him personally and such so it was hands down for him to do my brachioplasty.  My tummy tuck will be done over the winter and I am having my insurance do this as I have so many rashes which makes it medicall necessary.  I can not use Dr. Thomas for this since he is not with my insurances networker of doctors.  I do plan to have him do my thigh lift though. Thanks!

Meldy do you know was your Dr. a Board Certified Plastic Suregon, I know there is alot talked about diffrent plastic surgeons up here, but many are not all are board certified.   And make sure BOARD CERTIFED in PLASTIC SURGERY. Melody I am sure your surgeon was but I see many times up here not enough questions being asked, just alot of name dropping. Sorry to jusp in on your post. Glad to hear things are going great!!!

Hi Melody---------i had a brachioplasty at the same time i had the TT.  The TT was a breeze (except for the drains) compared to my arms.  I was very miserable with regard to my arms.......and it went on for many months.....each day got better.....but it in no way compared to recovering from abd surgery.  My arms were so sore and sensitive.  I still have quite a bit of numbness (my surgery was in Oct 2006).  i have numbness, tingling, sometimes sharp pains.  It gets better,,,,,,,but lasted so much longer than my tummy recovery.  Hope this helps.........lol  well at least lets you know that you are normal.......i had to sleep with my arms on those pillows you can by at the airport that have those little balls in them......so that my arms just kind of floated rather than lying down hard on a surface.  it was a challenge.........but i wouldnt change a thing, it is so great to have arms that fit into clothers and let me also go sleeveless!  good luck, let me know if i can help with anything.hug rae

Thanks for letting me know this! This way I know what to expect and I am far better prepared.  I know my arms seem so much more sore than when I had the Open RNY!  But I was thinking this is in my head and that maybe it is just because I have forgotten the days following my RNY.  Maybe not now that I am reading your post ... lol.  I am going in to have my TT this winter.  I am hoping to have no drain. I think the drain is the worst part. I know the surgeon that I use does not like to use drains but not sure I will use him for my TT.  My insurance will cover my TT but I have to use their surgeons! Not sure I want to do that... still thinking.  I don't like not having a choice.   I have to agree with you, even though my incisions are not even healed yet, I love how they feel and look all ready!  I have been wearing nothing but tanks since the sugery because that is what they recommended I wear and I am all ready getting compliments about how good they look! :)  Well worth the 5 grand I paid! Thanks for the input! Melody

Hi Melody  Sending you my very best wishes for a speedy recovery. Just think, you'll still have some nice warm weather to be able to enjoy something sleeveless!! I'm 3wks from my 1st round of reconstructive surgery.  My doc wasn't able to complete my LBL and I only had the TT part. So later this summer I hope to complete it and have a brachioplasty too. Keep us posted on your progress and again best wishes to you. Denise  =)
