Hi guys, I had surgery Aug 06.  Only 66 days till my one year anniversary and I am on a plateau!  I need to lose about 50 more lbs before I have surgery for my bat wings.  I have stayed the same weight for 2 months.  I am not eating that many calories.  Is there any way to break this plateau.  I walk about 4 miles 4 days a week. Should I go back to the first month diet?  Thank you so much and Good luck to all of you out there.

Mernie, sometimes you need to eat more calories and protein to get the weight loss started again.  Your body might be used to what you're feeding it and if you up your calories for a few days and then bring them back to about 800-1000 a day, it should kick start the loss.  I also up my protein to 80-100 a day and keep my calories between 900 & 1100 and I seem to stay on a pretty steady weight loss although I'm almost done with mine according to the doctor and the body weight fat/muscle scale.

Ann, Great job on your weight loss!!Please tellk me how YOU get your protein up to 80-100.  I have had trouble doing that much.  I do eat eggs and protein drinks. Thank you for helping me.

That one year plateau is the hardest one to break.  Try upping the protein and water and stop excersizing for about a week, then kick it back in again real hard.  It might do the trick.  Also if that doesn't do it, this is one I only recommend for certain people.  You can up your carbs and lower the protein for about a week, then go straight back on the protein.  It sometimes tricks your body into remetabolizing.  However, if you know you will not be able to kick the carbs DON"T try this.  I could do it, but some can't.   Good luck. Wendy, I can't stop the exersize.  It is at work that I walk the 4/5 miles. I can cut out carbs though.  Please tell me how YOU get the most protein.  I get mine through protein drinks.  Thanks for the help!

I use protein drinks too.  No help there I guess.

Change your routine.    Load your body with water and protein,  eat 5 small meals a day.    Change your exercise routine for a few weeks.   Your body is used to the same ole thing, you have to trick it.   I hope this helps. Linda

Linda, What do YOU eat for the high protein.  I need something easy and portable. I am going to try everything.  It sure is hard to get the water in.  Thank you for your help!

Here's my typical meal.   breakfast - cup of Blue Bunny yogurt with scoop of Anywhey, 1 orange, 1 piece of Aunt Millies 5 grain light bread - 26 grams of protein lunch - salad with 3 oz of deli turkey and 1 oz of deli ham - 24 grams of protein dinner - 3 oz steak, 1/4 cup or less of potatoes, 1/2 cup of veggies - 28 grams of protein My evening snack also has protein - between 3 and 12 grams. As you can see, I don't do protein drinks.  My nutritionist doesn't want us to use them after 6 months because it just goes right through you.  The only added protein is the Anywhey and I can sometimes get enough in without it depending on what I eat.

I'm still waiting for the surgery, so I don't have first-hand experience, however I read about the BodyBugg being great to help break a plateau. They are expensive, but I think I might get one, when I hit a plateau or after the honeymoon period, when I start to slow down. Here's a link:  http://www.bodybugg.com/index.php
