I don't have Dr. Gluck, but I do know that nicotine can show up in your pre-op blood tests. They will probably do a drug screen and pregnancy test right before surgery as a precaution.
Quit smoking! I know it's so hard, I went through it, but now is the time to get rid of the old habits. You don't want anything to stop you from reaching your goal.
You can do it!
I have Dr Gluck he is a wonderful surgon and he is VERY strict on his protacol if you do not comply with his requirements (quitting smoking) he has cancelled several surgeries because of this. And he will test you when he does your labs just before surgery. So please if your sneaking a smoke stop now. Nicotine stays in your fat cells for a long time up to 2 months the levels wont be as high but it will still be there. I had to be smoke free for 2 months at least before my surgery I did it but unfortunately I'm back at it again after a year out.
Also if he tells you NOT to gain any weight he means it. I did the quit smoking thing and put on 22 pounds he put me on the liquid diet for 4 weeks before surgery because of it and i had to lose what i'd gained or he would of cancelled me the day of surgery. Thankfully I lost 33 pounds as of the day of surgery and things went ahead as planned. He is very picky but he is good at what he does you are in excellent hands with him and his staff.
But if you want something bad enough you will do what you have to and get it done.
Good luck to you I wish you well on your journey it is an amazing trip.
