so cottage cheese has been suggested ot me as a good food for after surgery. only problem is, i don't think i like cottage cheese. at least i never used to... my mom used to make a 'fruit dip' where she blended cottage cheese with a tub of crystal light so i might try that if i find that i still can't stomach plain cottage cheese... anyone else got any ideas what can be done with it?

I have not tried it but I have been told that if you mix sugar free jelly with it that it tastes good. I usually don't mix anything sweet with it but I keep meaning to try it that way.  I hope you find something that you like.

You can sprinkle a little sugar free Jello on top.  It's really quite good. Jenn

You might find you like cottage cheese after surgery.  I've found that my tastes have changed and foods I didn't like/wouldn't eat before surgery now taste pretty darn good.  You can also put a little juice from Splenda sweetened fruit on top and mix it in.  Once you can do more solids, add the fruit.

Eat it. I had it for my first solid food. kp

I used to hate cottage cheese. Just the thought of it would make me gag and want  to throw upit was so gross. Now it's one of my favorite foods. I eat it quite often. A friend suggested I try mixing some carb control yogurt into it. It sounded gross, but I tried it and it was really good. Thats how I learned to like cotage cheese. Now I can eat it plain, but I still mix it with the yogurt for a treat. You may want to try taking a small pk. of sf ff pudding, and mix it with1 cup of ff milk. fold in a cup of ff cool whip(thawed). add a cup or two of ff cottage cheese, 1/2 cup ff sour cream,  a small can of crushed pineapple, a small finely diced Granny smith apple(pared and cored), a small can of peaches diced fine or a small can of mixed fruit. Make sure the canned fruit is in natural juice or water packed. Mix it up and put it in the fridge for an hour or two. for added protein sprinkle with protein powder just before serving. Do not add the protein powder to the entire batch it will cause it to thin out and not set. You can also put a cup of ff cottage cheese through the blender, add a bit of ff miracle whip, a little bit of ff sour cream, and some ranch salad dressing/dip mix to it. this makes for a great tasting veggie dip. I like to add any whey unflavored protein powder to it. Best wishes finding the many way to actually enjoy cottage cheese. It really is good after all. God bless, Annette

Hi Kathy I had to take a salad for an occasion and couldn't find a recipe so I just used what I had on hand. I take a tub of cottage cheese (1lb) and add an envelope of dry sugar free orange jello. To this add about a cup of thawed coolwhip and canned/drained pineapple tidbits and sometimes manderine oranges. Sorry I dont have measurements...I'm a taste-as-you-go kind of gal! I do like it with lime jello too and my kidlings like raspberry without any fruit.  Denise =)
