Protein Disaster

So this morning I thought I had a brilliant idea. i normally drink coffee in the morning with sugar free hazelnut creamer. well, this morning i thought it'd be swell to put some chocolate isopure in too, because then it might turn out kind of like a hazelnut mocha from starbucks AND it would help me get some protein in. right on. except the protein powder sort of didn't like the hot coffee... and so i took a nice big sip... and had to chew. *gag* the protein had turned into a cottage cheese-y curdle type thing. it was awful. i won't try that again. lol

OMG, I just threw up a little in my mouth.... JK  I HATE protein.  I was told to look at protein more like a pill or medicine.  Just suck it down, don't treat it as food.  So I mix mine in a tiny bit of skim milk and down it.

Hi Belinda How many proteins have you tried?   Believe it or not, there are a lot of good tasting proteins out there.    My favorites are the elite chocolate mint and the matrix cookies and cream.....i make sure to put ice when mixing it.    I don't think it even has a protein smell, the cookies and cream actually to me has a kinda mocha flavor and is quite good.   It took me a good six months to find one i really enjoyed.    Try going to bariatriceating.com and order samples.....you don't have to suffer for nothing. There's a trick to doing this.   I use my chocolate mint for hot chocolate....here's how you do it.   Put your milk , water, coffee etc.  in the microwave to warm it.    while that's warming, put your protein into a cup and mix it with just a little cold milk or water....mix it good.     When your liquid comes out of the microwave, slowly drizze the protein mixture into it and stir.   That's it.    Don't never give up, there are lots of little tricks to get you through. I had the same thing happen ! The powder curtled and ewwww the nastiness..lol I started reading online and asking questions after that...From what I read...if the liquid ( soup , water or milk) that u are adding the protein too is boiling hot...it will clump and seperate. Now when I make my hot chocolate I just warm the skim milk..not boil...same with the water..just use hot ho****er from the tap. That fixed the problem for me..hope this helps you. Oh..and any of the Matrix powders are awesome! No nasty fertilizer smell..and they taste fantastic!

Ha Ha ..I mix my protein powder in my coffee every morning. I use Muscle Milk or Iron-Tek. This is how I do it. I put the protein powder in the tumbler (I take it to work with me) then splenda and powdered creamer. I then pour enough coffee in to cover it. Then i mix (whisk) it with a fork harduntil the powder is disolved. Once the powder is mixed I fill the rest of the cup up with coffee...put the lid on. Using different flavored powders will give you that sort of starbucks taste. For instance Iron-Teck Vanilla Cake protein powder+ swiss miss unsweetened hot chocolate powder+splenda+carnation creamer=Starbucks Mocha
When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
All the best,
Shawn
