Surgery Date!! So bummed.....

Got my surgery date - but so bummed out because it's not until August 28th!!!!!!  I am in tears.  I'm trying to look on both sides........ Here is the dark side: I worked so hard and went to so many doctor's to try to get my surgery while I was off this summer.  I've had 2 sleep study tests, 12 back therapy sessions, 3 doctor appointments, a psy eval, 6 counseling sessions.  5 trips to Hurley Bariatric not to mention all the trips to Blue Cross.  That has all been in the last 2 1/2 months.  Now I wait for over 2 months more.  And I am an elementary school secretary and am off work this summer until 8-13 (which is just about the time I will start the Pre-op diet!!)  I'll have to use my sick leave to have surgery and won't be at work for the opening of school.  :(  It sure would have been nice to have surgery in July and spend some time recovering......   Here is the bright side: I made it!!!!!  - I do have a surgery date - RIGHT?  (trying to cheer myself up) And: I am on a cancellation list too and may have to change my surgeon from Dr. Farhan to Dr. Wagner - (that's good too!) And: I believe that things happen for a reason...god always takes care of me.... and I AM THANKFUL THAT I FINALLY MADE IT THIS FAR AND GRATEFUL  FOR EVERYONES HELP ALONG THE WAY! Congratulations on getting a date!  Hopefully the summer will whiz by and August will be here before you know it! I'm really out of it today (BAD cold) and thought you meant you had to wait until August of 2008!  When my brain clicked in that you meant  this August...I was like... "That make more sense!"  I'm ditz brain today I guess!

I have heard good things about Dr Wagner. I may end up with him myself and am OK with that too. Keeping my fingers crossed for you to get an earlier date. Jan

I know that Dr. Obeid is out for a while and Dr. Farhan is on vacation for July....I have heard that Dr. Wagner is good too!  At least I do have a date to focus on finally!!! Thanks for the vibes, Cindy

Cindy:  I know the waiting is hard, but it will be worth it.  I have heard good things about Dr. Wagner, and Hurley is just great!  I had my RNY there with Dr. Obeid, and then surgery for a bowel obstruction at Hurley as well.  I received A+ care both times.  I actually my hernia and TT there too, so all three times.  I work for a school too, so know how much you wanted to do it during the summer.  I had mine done April 04 and was out 6 weeks.   Hoprefully, you will get a cancellation.  If not, the wait is worth it, Tracey
