Losing too fast?

Please don't slap me when I say this because I know I sound kind of dumb saying I'm worried about losing weight around a bunch of overweight and formerly overweight people...  But 6/20 was my 3 week post surgery mark and I'm down 31lbs as of today (6/22).   This scares me.  Is it possible to lose it too fast?  I'm afraid I'm going to have this HUGE drop and then BAM, nothing.  I started 339 and when I stepped on the scale yesterday I was at 308.  I realize it comes off fast at first and I realize they told me that being an open RNY would cause me to lose faster, but I never in my life imagined an average of 10lbs a week.

How'd all of you do right out of the gates?  Did it come off this fast?

I've been graduated up to mushy foods as of last Thursday.  I'm trying very hard to eat.  To get all that protein in.  I'm doing an OK job, but I feel a yucky pain/swirly stomach after everythign I eat and drink.   Please give me hope that I'll feel like a healthier version of my old self soon.  I'm certainly in the "what did I do" mode right now!

Ana, Glad to see you post again.  Wondered how you were doing.   I don't think your weight loss is too rapid.  Most of the weight we take off at the first is mostly water weight.  I am 2 weeks post op as of 6/20, and I am down 26 pounds as of yesterday.   We all loose at our own rate.  Keep up the good work. I lost 40 pounds in one month, 80 pounds in two months.   it took 4 months to lose a hundred.   Don't get bummed when it slows down, it happens to all of us.     If you are like a lot of us, you will probably hit a stall real soon, as you're body tries to catch up.   Just make sure to get your protein, water and vitamins in and you'll be alright.   The first two months were the hardest for me, after that everything really started feeling more normal to me and i felt a lot better. Hello...I felt the same way.  I am 11 weeks out and as of Weds doctors scales shows I have lost 76 lbs. I was worried too, but he said I am fine. When I eat now I'm able to eat 1/2 cup or a little more.  Best of luck!! Dani

Ana, don't worry you're doing just fine.  It won't be long before you hit your first plateau and you'll think you're doing everything wrong.  It's all absolutely normal.  The more weight  you have to lose, the faster you lose it in the beginning.  It'll slow down the longer out you get.  Don't forget some plateaus can last up to 3 weeks so if it happens, don't get too worried but do keep a check on your calories and protein because you might have to up them to kickstart yourself.
