Has anyone had or heard of a "tumor or mass" under the intestine being relayed to weight loss surgery?? I woke  up May 2 in big time pain, drove to the doc (like a fool) and he called 911, got to the ER, had a Cat Scan and I had a 9cm mass under my new stomach attached to my small intestine. That night I had emergency surgery to remove it and thy could only get 80% because the mass was wrapped around my bowel and the doctor didn't want to take a chance. The mass was BENIGN and I am so lucky but what at scare!  Then.....I was Septic and was in the hospital 33 days.  I am home now with a visiting nurse and getting IV antibotics for who knows how long.  I am off work 4 months!! If anyone had this or heard of this, could u please email me,  Thanks so much                          Robin [email protected]

I have never heard of it, but I wanted to say that I am sorry you had to go thru that. I hope you heal fast, and you don't have any more trouble with the infections.

Take it easy and be kind to yourself. And just remember, at least you don't have to eat hospital food now? :D

Hugs

What an ordeal!  I hope you are better soon....sounds like you are getting there.  But in the hospital for 33 days!  I hope you have good health insurance cuz that bill is gonna be a doozie!   Were you at Beaumont for those 33 days?  If so, what did you think about their level of care?   I'm asking because my surgeon works through St. Joe's in Pontiac and I was unhappy with the care I received there.  So I started going to Beaumont's Weight Management Center so I would have a Beaumont doctor in case I had to go to the hospital for any complications.   I'm just curious if Beaumont is really better like I think it is.

Thanks...I was in Huron Valley because I work there. U are right about the insurance, Its  going to be a HUGE bill!. I am 4 years post-op and went to the Beumont Weight Loss Clinic for my first 2 years, I think they have a good program.  After 4 years, I think I know what I am doing so I stopped going. Went to the surgeon today and all is well, my wound is healed and now just have to follow up with the Infec Disease Doc and Internist. I wish u all the best and much sucess.                          Robin
