newer here, anyone from Muskegon area

Hello, I am from Muskegon. a tentative date but its not in stone yet, but approval,  my dr is Dr. Gluck. I am 42, have 3 kids at home, and I am engaged. I my bmi is around 40 or 41. right now, I am practicing drinking my low carb / high protien shakes. should I be doing this? the time from for surgery is around maybe end of aug. or sept sometime.  I used to live in Holland, for some of you, I recognize the areas , thanks. Just wanted to introduce myself. and by the way, just drinking the drinks right now is really really tough, but it seems to help me with NOT craving carbs so bad for now...  Ann.

Hi ann welcome to obesity help! I am from Grand Rapids so I pretty close to you! Congrats on your upcomming surg. Just make sure with your protein shakes that your bmi doesnt get too low before surgery. But yeah try to find some protein that you like!  Jamie

Hi Jamie..I am in GR too and will have it done at the MMPC. I actually go see Dr. Foote in about 30 mins for my surgical appt then my psy right after that..... I would love to keep in touch with both of you since we live close by. I TOO thought about starting to drink the shakes to prepare myself... Im going to buy one of those carnation drinks to see how they taste.... kat

i live in Muskegon but had surgery with Dr. Jon Schram in Holland. You should read the reviews on Dr. Schram. Anyway, I love my new life that he gave me.

Hi, I am from Muskegon, too.  I just had my first consultation with Dr. Gluck.  Next week I go for some testing, and I still have to do 4 months of the required diet before I can be approved.  Nice to meet you.

Hi Ann,  I'm not far from you at all. We live close to Fremont out in the woods... I'm also a patient of Dr. Gluck. He's really an awesome Dr. I went in the other day for my pre-op consultation, and testing. Dr. Gluck ansewered all our questions and truly listened to our concerns. My surgery is this week 6/27. I'm scared but I know I'm in good hands. Have you tried the sugar free carnation instant breakfast drink,with skim milk it's 14 grams of protein. They really taste yummy!!! I found mine at Meijers, but was told you can get them in bulk at "Sams" club. Anyway I just wanted to say Hi and Welcome!!! Good Luck!!! Shari

Yup! I live in Muskegon. I had my roux-n-y (open) August 22, 05. Glad I did it, I feel great. Don't be nervous. The Dr's here have this down to a science. It's a little rough at first but as time passes and you see yourself changing you will be amazed. Best wishes, Jan C.

Thanks everyone for the warm warm welcome! its nice to see people close by! i also had to do a weight managment thingy last year for  6 months, and have also met a couople friends, that have had the surgery after trying the weight management.

I double checked today, and tristen told me I was approved. yeay!! but its no go on when I could possibly get scheduled for surgery or my other appts. as the coordinator is on vacation, my luck lol just like a dollar lottery ticket, cant even win a buck, and I get the worse lines in the store where someone needs a price check lololol!!!!!! anyhow, so I am approved with no date, I hate this wait! lol. anyone ever have this happen????? I was told not to expect a call for a date for like 2 or 3 weeks?????  Im doing the slim fast low carb drinks. and, this is day 4, Im doing on my own by the way, they didnt tell me to lose before surgery my bmi is currently about 40. but I feel like I am droppin inches like crazy acting "as if" I had surgery!!  and Im not hungry or doing much craving since I am keeping carbs away .. would love to hear your experiences on approval and scheduling. and also on losing. before surgery. thanks, Ann

What....... somthing does not sound right here one person goes on vacation and all work stops.... and no surgerys get called for 2 to 3 weeks... That is some interesting customer service
