I'm home
hi congrats on your surgery.dont be scared. you just had surgery. it takes awhile to get all your protein and water in. it will soon happen just be patient. just sip your water and sip your protein drinks.think of it this way you have a smaller stomach now and have to learn how to eat all over again. treat your stomach like a newborn babies stomach and you can only eat that much at a time.,my nutriionist also told me that it takes 20 minutes for your brain to tell your stomach that your are full so when ya fill content then stop eating.just take it slow and easy cuz you just had a major surgery okay.hope this helps ya.also sf jello and popsicles and pudding are good to and so is lactaid milk.
Hi Beth,
Glad you made it home without complications. Continue taking care of yourself. Half at a time is fine, just get in that protein and water. If you have trouble with protein there is a good one at GNC in a can called 50 grand slam; you should only do half at a time.. Our bodies can only absorb 30 mg at one time. I thin it out with a small amt of milk as well. Also very important to get your vitamins in; I take centrium adult chewables from walmart. You need to take chewables right now so you can absorb them better. Don't worry if you can't get all your water in right away, just do the best you can.. As many say, walk, walk, walk, sip, sip, sip. Sugar-free popicle are great right now too; as well as sugar-free fudgie bars, or yogart.. Best wishes to your sucess.. Hugs, Judy R
Thanks for the great advice. I will keep trying to sip, get the protein in and walk. I went for two walks today and plan on going on one more after dinner time once it cools down. I am still struggling with the protein. The products get cold and icky before I can get them down. After July 9th I'll be able to start soft foods.. I know it will be hard but i am going to keep trying since I have come this far!
Congratulations on a successful surgery!!
I found that just walking around my home helped tremendously. I made sure I got up every hour and walked for 10 minutes at a slow pace. The more I walked, the better I felt.
I found I couldn't stand most of the products after surgery from MMPC. I was able to get down their jello and hot chocolate.
You are doing a great job! It's totally normal to be slightly afraid this soon after surgery. You'll be feeling great very soon.
Jenn
Thanks Jenn!
I am able to stomach the hot chocolate and tried the strawberry shake tonight. The jello tastes funny to me. Weid... I liked it before the surgery. I was only able to get down half of each product today and 45 -50 ounces of water. I hope that is ok. I have been walking. Thanks for the advice I looked at your site and you are such an inspiration! Thanks and keep up the great job!
