I am trying to find a good protein drink to get before my surgery date and I've started to order samples but there are sooo many and I am a little lost .  For years I have been drinking Spirutein protein drink for breakfast  and I really like it but it has too many grams of sugar and not enough protein.   I checked the reviews here at Obesity Help but a lot of it seems to be from people trying to sell their own stuff.  Can anyone recommend a good tasting, high protein drink that  I should try out before my surgery? Thank you for putting up with all my questions... Susan

There are many places online to order samples....and what you like now will not be the same after surgery....Trust me people told me that and they were right...your tastes change after surgery....What I did per advice was I got a couple samples from different places and then I waited to see what I would like...right now I am doing EAS myloplex....it is not too heavy on my stomach....that was what bothered me the most......Well I wish you luck and people here are very kind and answer questions the best they can.....So ask away.....

i just tried the nectar lattes cappucino flavor today for the first time... no sugar, no fat, 23 grams of protein... i mixed it with water and it was sweet, but good... didn't quite taste like a cappucino, but tasted good enough that i didn't struggle to get it down... i imagine if you played around with it a bit (say added milk / soy milk instead of water and some chocolate protein powder) you could make something sort of like a frappucino... there's also a nectar iced tea flavor that i like, although i add a little crystal light tea to it to "kick-up" the tea flavor and hide the underlying milk-y taste (whey is a milk protein after all)... for convenience, you can't beat the isopure ready to drink bottles, but they're fairly pricy and not the best tasting... another good one for convenience is the profect tubes... it's only 3 and a half ounces and you get 25 grams of protein...

oh yeah, i also wanted to mention that bariatriceating.com sells a "bariatric start kit" (or "survival kit") which is basically samples of a bunch of different products. you might want to check that out if you're interested in trying a bunch until you find one you like...

Hey Susan,    GNC premixed 50 grand slam in a can is great! There are serval flavors, and it is so easy to use. I drink only half at a time, with a little bit of lowfat milk.  It is easy great tasting too. Check it out.. Good luck and best wishes to your speedy recovery.. Sincerely, Judy R

I use Unjury Chocolate...it tastes like Nestle Quick. FOR REAL!! lol  I use it with skim milk and an 8 ounce serving gives me 29 gr protein...which is good since your body can't absorb more than 30 grams at a time. You can order online and get it within a few days. www.unjury.com  Good Luck

I was also told by my doctor to start trying protein drinks before my surgery i think I have gotten lucky I found one at GNC its red and says 100% whey protein on the front, its a chocolate flavored one and it taste really good i was really amazed, with not doing anything special to it (ie adding anything) just making it as instructed on the package.  I am happy to find something that is decent, I have heard some horror stories about having really poor drinks that make you gag and such.
