Hi All, I'll be moving to Detroit in August to begin graduate school and I was wondering if any of you could give me some information/advice regarding support groups in the Detroit area? Gladys

Too much of a good thing can get boring.  It will be nice to actually experience four distinct seasons instead of steamy/hot and hot/steamy.

What school will you be attending? Will you be living in the city or the suburbs?

I'll be getting my Masters in Library Science at Wayne State and I plan to stay with friends in the city while I get my bearings.

What?  No GRAD schools in Florida?  Just kidding.  Good luck with the move!  And welcome to MI!  Sorry I don't know of any SG's in the Detroit area.  Hopefully some others will chime in with some help! Tina

I have a friend that lives in Tampa and is a Principal (I think he still is anyway).  He says the same thing.  He said the first year he lived in Tampa felt like he was on vacation everyday.  After that, he says it's just like living anywhere else.   The change in seasons is what he misses most, too.  I'm glad someone was able to give you some info regarding support groups.  I live a little over an hour outside of Detroit, but work about 15 minutes outside of Detroit (I'm a teacher.)  So...again, welcome!  Hope your transition to MI and school goes smoothly!  Tina

The Cori Center and the Bariatric Treatment Center both have support groups that you can find on their website.

Thank you.   This is a great help.  I will definitely need to keep up with support group meetings to help with the stress of starting school and moving to another state.
