DRIVING YET?

Hello guys I am 12 days post op...how soon can I drive?

I was cleared to drive 14 days post op.

I wasn't give any driven restrictions other than not to drive if I had taken any pain medication.  I do LOTS of driving with my job, and I was back to work in two weeks. A doctor from a previous surgery told me the reason for driving restrictions is if you had to, for instance, brake quickly, you might not brake hard enough because you instinctively want to protect your stomach area. I had my surgery on a Tuesday and was driving by Sat. I quit taking the pain meds on Friday morning because I didn't need it. I was tired of sitting in the house. I never had any problems and felt great. I wished I would have went back to work sooner than I did. Lynn

I think it matters if you had lap rny or open.  I had the lap and was driving within 2 days.  I didn't drive far but it didn't bother me.  I was driving to work the next week.  You might want to call your doctor and ask.
