Hey all!

I’ve yet to have my surgery, (still going through the pre-rec tests), BUT I have been kind’a busy “getting my house in order” for post-op time.

One of the things I’ve busied myself with is sampling recipes even thought I know my tastes might change.  I’m posting two of my fav’s of all ~ hope you will try them and let me know what you think!

ALSO, I really hope you too will share your favorite recipes with the rest of us who are “making the journey together”…  (Btw, if this is one of those “redundant” postings ya’ll have my apologies!)

Carmel Apple

(4 Servings)

1 pkg. sugar-free butterscotch instant pudding (6 serving size)

20oz. can crushed pineapple, drained (reserve & use for optional extra amounts of protein added)

1 (or more) scoops of vanilla or plane protein powder

8oz. Cool Whip Lite

1 med. apple, chopped

Mix pudding and Cool Whip.  Add pineapple first then chopped apple, mix well.  Refrigerate one hour before serving.  Strawberry Cheesecake Shake

8 oz. Water

1 scoop of vanilla protein powder

1 T. sf Jell-O Cheesecake Pudding

3 – 4 fresh or frozen strawberries

Place water in the blender first, then powder, then additions. Blend on low then high till well blended. *Yumm'ayyy*

THOSE SOUND SO YUMMY WILL TRY THEM AND LET YOU KNOW HOW I LIKED THEM!!!
MY FAVORITE IS....CHICKEN BREAST MOISTENED IN EGG THEN ADD SOME SALT AND PEPPER THEN I USE THE DURKEE FRIED ONIONS CRUSHED UP AND PUT IT ON THE CHICKEN AND THEN BAKE AT 350 TIL DONE...DEPENDS ON HOW LARGE THE CHICKEN IS....I USE THE CHICKEN STRIPS SO IT DOESN'T TAKE LONG AT ALL TO BAKE. AND IT TASTES REALLY GOOD...HUBBY THOUGHT HE WAS EATING A BREADED PORK CHOP THE FIRST TIME I MADE IT. BUT IT IS VERY MOIST AND TENDER AND A GOOD SOURCE OF PROTEIN!!!

Hi, Did you know there is a recipe board and a cooking/baking board? You might get more responses there, but don't know.

I also make that caramel apple salad but mine has nuts in it.

My favorite things to make are

Peanut Butter Cookies 1 cup peanut butter 1 cup Splenda 1 cup oatmeal 1 egg 1 tsp vanilla   roll into balls and then roll in more splenda Pat down with a fork. Bake at 350 degrees approx. 6 minutes Excellent frozen Chocolate cool whip fluff 1  8 oz container light or sugar free cool whip 2 tb peanut butter 1 tb unsweetended cocoa 3-4 packets of Splenda Mix together and freeze. I made it for the 1st time today and it is awesome. I showed your picture to my mom who lives in Alpena. She thought you looked familiar. She said I wonder if that is so and so, but I can't remember what she said. Good luck in August. Lynn

As for your recipes, they sound yumm'ay too...looks like I'll be back in the kitchen for awhile longer! So, your Mom lives in Alpena?  (Is this a good thing..?..why do I feel like apologizing again?)  LOL!  In this "Mayberry USA" its more than likely we just might know each other...but then I have been told I have one of those haunting, universal faces too.....(be n-i-c-e Judy!)  LOL!! If you would like, Lynn, write me and let me know who Mom is.  I'm rather intrigued about knowing if we actully do know each other! ~ Hugs to All ~

SnoDov, One of my favorites that has helped me through the pureed and soft stages is a mock manicotti.  What is nice is you can throw this together in seconds for a quick fix.   1/4 to 1/2 low fat/no fat Ricotta cheese ( depends on how much you can handle) Marinara sauce to cover Parmasean chesse to taste. I  put it in a small bowl, cover with marinara ( i used Butoni from Refrigerator section), and sprinkle with parm cheese, microwave for about a minute depending on microwave, and whala.  It tasted like heaven the first time I made it (major pasta freek here).     It is still a very quick and satisfying meal.   My other was a recipe that Barix gave us for  Chicken salad. 6 oz canned chicken, tuna. crab. shrimp or Salmon  2 tbsp fat free mayo 1/2 tsp onion powder 1/4 tsp celery salt I use a magic bullet to blend until smooth.  I need to add some chicken stock sometimes to get it to blend well.  It is very tasty.    6 oz lasts me 3-4 meals, so you may tire of it before it is gone.   The first time I made it I used an 11.5 oz can of chicken and had to throw about half away.  Lesson Learned! My other favorites are: Sugar free Fudgesicle brand Fudgesicles Laughing Cow Light Cheese Wedges Baby Bell Light Cheese rounds. Wheatsworth Crackers Word of advise, don't buy alot of stuff before hand.  I have 4 containers of protien powder I now cannot stand since surgery.   Bariatriceating.com has a sample pack of items, it has been nice trying single servings to find a new favoriet. Best of Luck Pam

Hi'ya Pam! OoOooo the mock manicotti sounds VERY good as does the Barix Chicken salad!!  Can hardly wait to try them ALL.  (I just bought a Magic Bullet)  ...Gosh, I guess I was all uptight for nothing as not too much of our "new menu's" sound that much different from what I do now. Oh and as for getting too much ahead of time, I have invested in about 3 "mix and match" Sample Cases of different kinds (brands) of "stuff"; 1 of protein...the other cases are of  different kinds (brands) of protein bars, soups, sauces (incl. ketchup, lol) and syrups.  BECAUSE I don't want to end up with pounds of protein I don't like  (((HUGS)))

First of all I wanna say THANK YOU for the recipes, and also letting us know there is a board for recipes... now to figure out how to find it...LOL I am collecting any and all recipes I can right now, for after I have my surgery my Fiance has volunteered to all the cooking for the 3 of us for 4 - 6 months after surgery or untill I am back on solid foods.

Now I have a question...when you use the jello.... do you replace water for the milk when you mix it up? I'm very confused over this right now cause when I went to my consulation we were given a paper stating to avoid greasy, fried, sugary foods and carbonated/caffienated/surgary beverages, red meats, milk and some Dairy Products after surgery.. the reasons stated are the symptoms associated with dumping.... I don't drink pop, coffee or juice's so that's no problem to me.. same with milk as I am lactose sensitive anyways... Now being told I had to give up my "weak"(4 small bags make 1 gallon cold brewed) green tea is another story! *hovers protectively over her tea* Now I don't drink milk much anyways but I am very confused cause I keep seeing recipes and/or menus that keep mentioning milk containing products...but we were told to avoid milk products.... *HUH?* Anybody want to weigh in and give me their thoughts on this... Were any of you told the same thing about milk products? Those who have gone through the surgery already.. how well are you at tolerating milk now......

Thanksbunches

I don't do dairy milk either because of being lactose intolerant, instead I use soy milk.  If I'm making anything with it after my surgery I will be adding my protein powder to it just for the extra punch.
