I've got a date

I'm excited that I've finally got a date from the doctors office today.  After starting this process and being extremely concerned about the recover process, since I'm a high school band director it's a relief finally be through the red tape.  Of course things didn't go quite as fast as I was hoping, but I've still got a summer date!  it looks like August 13th is going to be the date!  I'm a little concerned because I've got a football game on August 24th.  What I'm going to need to be able to do is climb stairs (to the top of our stadium) and do some walking (which is a good thing).  I'll have 2 two and a half hour rehearsals the week after surgery.  I'm thinking I should be up to this?????????  Those of you who have had the lap-rny surgery, how quickly were you back and at it?  I'm not looking at having to do full work days the next week, but am concerned because I do have 200 students counting on me being there. Thanks! --Sax

Hey Sax, CONGRATS!!     You will be taking those stairs in leaps and bounds in no time!  I'm sure you will know your limits and will easily accommodate (or be accommodated) during the rehearsals, nor will you disappoint those 200 students ~ funny isn't it how we tend to anticipate the worse scenarios then by the time we get to those places we breeze right on by them?  I hope to be joining you very soon, Sax...so be sure to scoot over and make room for Moi on the losers bench!! Do keep us posted of  your progress!

I started feeling a lot better about a week out, so you should be fine for the football game. The stairs on the stadium, give yourself an extra few minutes if you can, and take a break half-way up, that might help. I didn't really have a problem with going up the stairs if I took my time. But coming down sometimes hurt.

Congrats on your date, and good luck to you.

Hugs

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery date.  I had the lap-rny and at eleven days out from surgery I was going stir crazy, but I had to take things a bit slow because I was still a bit sore and weak from the procedure.  Best of luck, Gladys

Good for you Saxman!!  I had the lapband surgery Fri 6/8.  I only took a week of vacation off of work.  The following week after I had surgery and was on vacation, I stained my deck, helped my mom clean and fill our above ground pool, and I planted flowers.  By the next Monday, I was back to work.  I just moved a little slower doing all of this, and I probably did over do it some, but I got a lot done while I was on vacation!!  I just couldn't lay or sit around!!!   Jenn
