signs of dumping?

So, refresh my memory as to the signs of dumping.  Last night, about two hours after eating some turkey, only about two slices of lunchmeat, which I felt fine eating, I started to feel horrible.  My stomach was hurting so bad I couldn't lay down, or take a sip of water, I was shakey, and had a headache.  Felt like something was stuck in my throat and would have probably felt better if I had thrown up.  I haven't felt so bad in a long time.  Could this have been dumping.  I don't know of what I would have had that would have made me do it, but maybe I was.  I slept after that until four in the morning, and woke up feeling fine , and now as of seven this morning feel great. Thank God.  But if that was dumping, NEVER want it to happen again.   JO

Hmm...although I don't know about "dumping" yet...ha, nor do I wanna by all I've heard, (I'm still pre-op), this much I DO know ~ not all lunchmeats are created "Bariatric" friendly!  Far too many of them are actually processed with high contents of sugar and salt.  I would bet you ate one filled with sugar or if it was deli kind it might have had a brown glaze??  Best to check and recheck contents! So glad your feeling much better ~ I know I have my own journey yet to walk and God help the day I get to experience a "dumping".

I usually feel like that if I have eaten too fast.  Still in the learning curve I guess.  Someone suggested to me to lay down on my left side, it may help your pouch empty faster.  I can't lay completely flat, but propped up by pillows generally helps.   Glad you are feeling better Pam

From one source:
Dumping syndrome,” a constellation of symptoms including palpitations, lightheaded ness, abdominal cramping and diarrhea.

Dumping syndrome occurs when the small intestine fills too quickly with undigested food from the stomach, as can happen following gastric bypass surgery. hope this helps SW

thanks all.  My sister thought maybe dehydration too, as i did realize i was outside pulling weeds and didn't drink enought because it was hot out.  Have to be more careful in the future. Jo
