Thanks for responding.  I think I am leaning towards Dr Foote.  I have an appointment July 31st with the Internist.  So, I dont know if my decision will change or not.  Will keep everyone's opinion close to me. Thanks again Jodi :O)

Hi Jodi, I had Dr. Foote, and he is awesome. He made me feel very safe. I was terrified of having surgery...just an all around fear of doctors, hospitals etc. He was so calm and soothing to me. My friend has him as well, but I wanted to make my own judgement. Once I met with him one on one I knew he was the one. He is very gentle and kind. Honestly all the doc's are terrific and I would have trusted any of them. We are blessed in Grand Rapids to have such an amazing team of Doctors. I added you to my friends-let's chat soon! :) Best of luck to you! Faith

Hello Faith.  I too have a fear of Dr's and what not.  I think I am going to be just a smidge intimated by him, but hopefully I will get over it.  I am leaning towards him.. but who knows what is going to happen. Yes indeed.. lets keep in touch and talk about our progress. Thanks again Jodi

I have not yet had surgery, but I see Dr Kemmeter.  Dr Foote conducted the seminar I attended, and Dr Baker did surgery on my neighbor, and she really likes him.  I wound up with Dr Kemmeter kind of on accident.  My original appointment had to be changed and the first appointment I could get on my schedule was with Dr Kemmeter.  I didn't have any preference, and I thought, why not?  If I really didn't like him, I could switch.  I found him to be really nice, personable and empathic, and he didn't patronize me.  I was convinced I wanted lapband going into this because I didn't want anything more invasive.  When I met with him, he suggested vsg (the PA mentioned it, too), explained it to me, suggested I read more about it and explained why he thought it was best for me. After researching it, reading the message boards here, I agree.  I do think it's the best for me.  Now I just need to convince my insurance company it is not "experimental".  I am glad he took the time to listed why I wanted the lap band and tell me why the vsg would be better for me. As it turns out, he has the most experience with the vsg out of the three.  I think you can't go wrong with any of the surgeons there.  They all have good track records and the office staff is just great.  I have a feeling that most people wind up with the same doctor who conducted the seminar they attended...which tells me a lot of it had to do with who you are familiar with. Wow, I just saw how long this post is ....Oops, I kinda got carried away there... SORRY about that Martha

Martha  Thanks for the reply and no problem that it is long.  Very informative...I went into the seminar wanting Lap band, and leaving the seminar wanting lap band.  I'm no into being rerouted and what all complications that can come with it.  I too have WELL over 100 lbs to lose, and I have confidence I can do it with the band.  But I am not saying what Dr I choose will not change my mind or think something else is better for me.  Lap band I guess is not in stone.. but it is what I prefer. Thanks for the information. Jodi :O)
