...what iron supplement do you take for low iron?  I keep thinking that "it's not that low" so I haven't been taking any, but I've been SOOOOOOO tired lately and my restless leg syndrome is horrible lately too, which I understand can be a symptom of low iron.  I have to bite the bullet and get some good iron to take.  So, once again, please tell me what you are taking that absorbs well for us WLS folk, where I can get it (northern MI) and doesn't taste like crap? Thanks guys! Theresa

Hey Theresa! Check out this website.  www.bbvitamin.com they make vitamins for bariatric patients.  I've been taking them and I am very pleased.  They already know exactly what our bodies absorb.  Don't have to figure it out.

Let me know what you think.

Take care, Carey

I use Hema-Plex, at the suggestion of a dietician from another practice.  It is a vitamin and iron combo, has brought my numbers up nicely and with no constipation or excessive (??)gas.  The best price I have found is from www.BetterHealthstore.com   Oddly, it is cheaper to have them ship it to me than to drive five miles and buy it at their store. Are you getting enough magnesium with your calcium citrate?  I know you have been at this longer than I have, but if I don't supplement the magnesium, I get leg and foot cramps.  Yes, I add in some potassium, too. Glad to hear from you, hope you are doing okay.

Hi Theresa, I also take the Bariatric Advantage-Passion Fruit flavor and it is great.  No strong iron taste at all!  It is chewable and really does taste like a treat!  I purchase mine at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI.  (I have been off this site for months, but I remember how I have read and received alot of valuable info from YOU!  You were a name I always read as I lurked and got inspiration and knowledge.  I appreciate all that you have offered in the past (even without knowing it!!!)  I returned tonight as I want to reacquaint myself and share the site with a dear friend who is having surgery in mid-Michigan next week!!!  So, thank-you Theresa for all your past insights!.  A recap of me is that I am down 158 lbs. YOO-HOO!   I am 17 months out and about 8 lbs. from goal.  I will be looking into skin removal either later this year or early next year.  AND YES......AS WE ALL KNOW......IT IS THE BEST THING THAT I HAVE EVER DONE FOR MYSELF!!!    I hope I haven't been too wordy now, but felt compelled to talk!!!! Thanks for listening............. Nancy K.

My surgeons office also recommended Hema-Plex. I don't have a problem with it so far but I am only on day 4 of using it.  I bought mine from the Vitamin Shoppe for $9.25 for 30 pills. I hope you fiond something that works for you!

About a buck-fifty cheaper at the Better health web site.  I bought six or seven months at a time to get the most for the shipping money.
