Hungry Help Hungry
Hello All, I had surgery on 07/25/07...I'm hungry...I don't like gelatin or pudding...I drink the carnation instant breakfast drinks (add instant milk and 2% milk) that is where my protein is coming from. I snack on fudge and popsicles (sugar free/no sugar added)...I want food.
Any suggestions, when can I eat 08/10/07? Why am I hungry, any suggestions on what to try...I feel miserable...
You should be doing protein shakes. Are you adding that to your diet? Also drinking water or water flavored with crystal lite...etc helps reduce hunger. But I cannot see how you could be getting your protein in with just carnation instance breakfast.
A sample diet for full liquids should look like this:
Breakfast
1 packet of protein supplement
Snack
4 ounces light yogurt
Lunch
A protein supplement
Snack
SF fudgesicle
Dinner
1/4---1/2 strained low fat cream of some kind of soup
2 oz or 1/4 cup of sugar free pudding
Snack
High protein hot cocoa
Then your 62 oz of water which you sip all day
Hope this helps. The hunger does go away.....hang in there and good luck.

I cannot add anything to Pooch's menu, it is the best example I have seen. But I can symphathize with you on the hunger part. I am so over the super sweet taste of sugar-free products!! When you get to the mashed potatoes and refried beens, it will be sooo much better!!!
She did mention Crystal Light, and the pink lemonade is actually good when mixed with crushed ice.
Good luck, Bobbi
I thought the full liquid part of the diet was the hardest. I was hungry and just wanted to chew something.
But don't do it. Follow the plan! Let yourself heal.
I found that cream soups were good, especially when I was so tired of the sweet stuff.
My favorite was Campbells 97% fat free Broccoli Cheddar, but any of the low fat cream soups are OK.
You can add a scoop of unflavored soy protein powder, blend, then strain.
The soups with unflavored soy protein powder were the only way I got through full liquids!!
Good luck.
It helps...I hadn't tried the soup until today...it was delicious...I eat the sugar free popsicles/ fudgesicles, mix the milk w/the dry milk w/the carnation breakfast and my stomach makes a ton of noises...when all of that goes down that is :o)
I only had one cream soup and that was the liquid from the chicken and rice (cost 84 cents and that wasn't even campbells, soup is so expensive)...I think I might venture off again tomorrow and get some cream of this and creams of that...
Thank you all for replying in my time of need...
Hi Dy, I remember this well. Yuk.. Try some cottage cheese, yogart (sf), sf icecream (good at walmart blue bunny), sf fudge cicles, mashed potatoes runny side, light cream soups, squash whipped well, sweet potatoes, I also did premixed 50 grand slam protein drink from GNC (protein is extremely important) this one is good and easy! Good luck gal.. Hugs, Judy R
Thank you me and Cournteey needed this informations :o) I did try mashed potatoes and it scared the life out of me...but i'm alive today so back to the liquids I go...I also have cream of chicken, cream of broccoli and chicken noodle soup for their broths...I tried the meijer chicken and rice broth (AWFUL)
I had surgery on the 25th too and I am HUNGRY too!! I am so sick of liquids since I did them for 2 weeks prior too. I am scared to eat anything other than the Instant Breaksfasts. I got courageous this afternon and had most of a light yogurt with no ill effects. Also had a nos ugar added fudgecicle and didn't die or anything!! I guess I am scared of the dumping and think if it has any sugar in it it will make me sick.
I am still pretty sore getting up and down and I am sick of this drain. It comes out on Thursday, which can not be soon enough for me.
I just want to chew something with some taste! Every ad on tv is food, I never noticed that before. I want some normal food!!! What have I done?, I like food,!! I hope I have done the right thing! Hell, I could have lost weight without being cut on by drinking liquids proteins forever! Maybe I should have listened to all those folks that couldn't believe I was having this surgery, they didn't think I was that overweight.
Ok, whiny rant over.........I can do this. Food will come soon enough and then I am sure I will be glad, (If I haven't starved to death first!) hehe
Please don't get mad that I laughed when I read your post. I don't find your situation funny, just that I remember it all to well. In fact, there was a period of 2 weeks where I cried everyday because I thought wth did I do?? And yeah, I thought I was going to starve to death. I do promise that you WILL eat again, and eventually feel like a human being once more. And you're right...every ad is fast food or restaurant related right after you have surgery. I couldn't tell you what shows I watched while in the hospital because they were overtaken by the food commercials. Good luck...you'll do great!!
