Cost for cash payment of VSG at MMPC

I may have to pay cash...  Can anyone tell me about what MMPC charges for VSG?   Thanks, Laura

Have you checked out jon Schram in Holland since you live in Zeeland ?

I've heard good things about Dr. Schram.  I have been a patient at MMPC Michigan Weight Loss Specialists for 3 years in their medical weight loss program, so I am very familiar with the staff and the office.  Is Dr. Schram less expensive or were you just thinking of geographics?  Does he still only operate in Ypsilanti? Laura, My girlfriend just told me about someone who went to MMPC with similar story like you (and myself) and was turned down. You are not too far from Kalamazoo, either. Have you thought about Dr. Verseman? Deb

Hi! Deborah, Was your friend turned down by MMPC or by Priority Health?  If it was MMPC why did they deny her?  I meet the NIH criteria to have WLS.  Do you know if she did?  I would be very interested in hearing more about this. Thanks, Laura

My suggestion to anyone who insurance that won't pay for a procedure- or doesn't have insurance.- Just a warning.I met all criteria for surgery, was told I was a "perfect" candidate and decided to self-pay- What you don't think about is if you have complications they are not covered since you are having a procedure that is an exclusion. Complications can happen- Mine cost me over 2.5 million dollars- If you want more specific info, you may email me. Enough said on this site. Amy

Laura, Dr Schram still only operates in Ypsi.   He is a really nice guy though.  I work with him at the hosp occasionally.  So far Holland Hosp is not doing any WLS procedures yet despite significant demands for the surgery in our area.  What happened with PH to consider self pay?  My best friend has been denied by PH twice and has appealed twice and is in the process of filing a grievance with them. She meets all criteria except the MMPC diet program. They won't accept that she has been supervised by an MMPC internist in Holland every 3 months for the last 4 years.  THE HOOPS are ridiculous.  I went through their diet program once and so far have had no problems. But..... I am still waiting for final approval from PH as well.  GOOD LUCK Cathi
