OT -- Alone on Christmas
Hi everyone. I'm single and live alone (other than my faithful felines LOL), and this Christmas I have no place to go, nothing to do, and no one to do it with. I'm wondering if any of you guys have suggestions for something I could do that day? There were several places around the Ann Arbor area that had free community holiday meals for Thanksgiving, but I can't find anyplace that's doing the same thing for Christmas. Do you know of any in my area, or have any other suggestions?
Thanks for reading!!

I am so sorry that you will be alone during the holidays. I can't even imagine not having anyone to spend the day with. I wish I had a suggestion for you, but all of my family is right here locally (except my son, who is in the Army), and I don't know of anything. Can you contact your local Salvation Army? Maybe they can direct you to something. Maybe a local church can help you find something too. There are always families out there I am sure that want to share the Christmas spirit and would be willing to "adopt" you and have you join them. Check out some local organizations, I am sure they will be able to help you find something.
We are going from house to house this year, or I would offer to have you over here for the day. Last year we stayed home with the kiddos and just enjoyed the day, this year we have to go EVERYWHERE!!!! I guess I should count my blessings to have so much family close by...
My thought and prayers are with you this Christmas season that you find some type of fellowship for the day. No body should be alone on Christmas day.... Let me know what you are able to find out...

I have spent so many Christmases alone that it is a non-issue for me. What I do is go to church, then come home, stay in my jammies and watch a chick flick or read a good book. Some years I have called a long lost friend or some such thing. There really aren't many community service projects available on Christmas.
I happen to work in AA and haven't heard of anything going on but if I do I will definitely pass it on to you. In the meantime take care of you. You are worth it.
Why not visit the WLS patients at Barix Clinics/Forest Health Medical center in Ypsi? I'm sure they'd love someone coming in with cards, balloons, hugs, or encouraging words!!
Nursing home patients are often in need of visitors. Have lunch with a few lonely senior citizens!
Call your local Humane Society to volunteer to walk the dogs on Christmas.
Drive to Lake Michigan and search for sea glass among the sand and pebbles. Warren Dunes State Park at 1-94 Exit 16 in Bridgman is GORGEOUS!
There ya go, a few ideas picked out of the ol' noggin'
