Why am I so cold?

Since I've had the surgery, my feet are so cold they hurt.  I can't wear dress shoes at work because I have to wear two pair of socks to keep my feet warm enough.   My fingers also will go numb if I'm outside for a very short time, even with gloves.  Anyone have any suggestions as to what could be causing this?  I don't have a problem staying warm - just my feet and hands.

A calorie is a measure of how much heat it takes to raise the temperature of water. When we were eating lots of calories, our bodies would generate lots of heat.  But now that we're not eating as many calories, we're simply not generating as much body heat.  Also could have something to do with your iron levels.  If they're too low they could be causing extremities to experience extreme coldness.  Hope it's something that can be fixed .... Pam, I mentioned this to my daughter today, and the first thing she asked is if I've had my iron checked.  She's always cold, and her doctor told her it's because of her low iron.  So I went online and did some research.  I found stuff saying basically that it's peripheral neuropathy, and one of the several causes is vitamin deficiencies.  That could explain it - although my blood work has come back normal. Marie, I'm having the same issues.  Unfortunately, I work outside a lot for my job and I am growing accustomed to having numb toes and fingers, even when I'm inside.  My mom bought me gloves with the fingers cut out to wear so that I can still do my job. I've tried wearing two pairs of wool socks and have Thinsulate gloves but neither seems to help.  I've heard that our bodies will eventually adjust to our insulation loss.
