I am hoping you guys can help me with my Iron problem. I got back my 9 month blood work and my doctor wants me to double my daily iron.   My question to you is...What brand of Iron do you use?  I have been using Bariatric Advantage and would like to buy something at GNC.   Next question what do you do to help with the iron side effect? Any good fiber foods to suggest. Thanks in advance for your help. Dani

I stattted taking the chelated iron tablets from twin labs I buy them from walmart for my low iron.  Plus I also take Hemaplex which I have to order online from the vitamin shop because GNC does not carry them.

Fiber food?  Flat out makes good roll-ups and also has 9 grams of protein per 100 calories.  One meal almost every day for me is a bowl of cereal with a scoop of protein powder added.  I use unsweetened almond milk at 40 calories for eight ounces, I use less.
A serving of Uncle Sam cereal is 10 grams of fiber, less than a gram of sugar.  Has no flavor, but does contain flax seeds.
All-Bran Extra Fiber has 13 grams of fiber, no sugar but does have aspartame.
Post Shredded Wheat and Bran 8 grams of fiber, less than a gram of sugar.

Keep an eye on serving sizes with various cereals, they vary widely.

Apple slices make good chip substitutes for scooping up cottage cheese.  Little carrots, oranges, and small handfuls of almonds help too.  I loved the Rye Krisp package that said "Gow with the grain".

About Hemaplex; it works well for me and I found the best online price at vitacost.com.  Vitamin Shoppe and Better Health carry them as well.

Twin labs chelated are easy on us and we absorb better because of the chelated aspect. They also keep your poop from getting hard. Hard poop sucks. If you've had a TT hard poop makes you squirt blood out of your belly button. kp

I too have low Iron but I am taking my Iron with 1800-2400 mg of VItamin C and have no poopy issues... I also take it with Orange Juice. Has really helped with the poop issue... Vitamin C also makes it more absorbable.... good luck
