HELP!!!NE1 turned down cuz of weight gain?? between initial consult and preop consult?
Hi there.. a bit discouraged today... bought a scale... a fancy dancy one and that measures hydration bmi and weight and tracks it..... stepped on tonight and it said 299.4....... sighs.... i have been trying to hard... drinking protein shakes, eliminated soda, sweets, chips (not really a draw for me but occassionaly) and all fast food from diet since i found out about my date.... and here i have gained weight....
has anyone ever been turned down due to gaining weight between consult and pre-op appointment????? i have my pre-op on the 14th of Feb and am worried i may not be allowed the surgery....... any ideas what i am doing wrong??? am i drinking too much protein?? help!!!
kandy :(
thats just it, he said i had to loose weight or he would not do the surgery....... i do not know what else to do....
i drink a protein shake for brekkie, yogurt for snack, only meat and water for lunch, yogurt for snack and then a small healthy dinner with another snack, either peanuts or a protein shake and holy crap... more water than i care to count... at least 5 bottles a day or more......
and this is pretty much a routine for me..... i stay away from the carbs, the bread and i have never been able to eat salt.... so thats not a problem....
i think for me to loose weight before feb 14 i am going to have to go all liquid to get down at least 10 pounds or so.... i dont want to have come this far and not have the surgery.. sighs.....
just really bummed.....
i think you are correct...... after getting this scale and getting on it..... i will be dooiing just that beginning tomorrow..... i am not willing to blow this... and knowing it is a lifestyle change.... now is as good a time as any... right??
thanks for responding.... i read your profile.... how is the weight loss going?
Kandy, you'll be just fine. It sounds like your getting a lot of protein in your diet. Try to count your proteins and keep them 60-80 grams. Are you exercising? This will help boost weight loss. The liquid fast will take 10-20 lbs off also. When do you see Dr Gluck again? Good luck this week. I know you will do just fine. Drink your water and stay away from sweets. You can do it your almost there
Kandy.......first of all calm down. When I went in for my last visit with him I had gained 10 pounds. I told him it was mostly due to my knee problem and not being able to exercise, which was very true. He told me to lose that during my two week fast, and I did. I was never told to lose weight before surgery, but my sister was. Now, if I was you I would call Dr. Glucks office on Mon. and ask to meet with a nutritionist to go over your diet plan. That way it is in your record that you are serious about this. They will do this with you if you ask.
Hope this helped.........get back with me.
