Lansing help!?
I have been working with Ingham Regional Medical Center for almost a year in order to have wls and have recently learned that they are closing the bariatric program. My file has been forwarded on to the surgeons, but am wondering if anyone else is Lansing is wondering what to do? Do I go out of town? Start all over? Sparrow?
Oh, my! That is a big bummer! Are they working with other surgeons to take their patients -or maybe they could give you a referral? I met a lady off a pregnancy board *****ally like Sparrow. Sorry, I don't have any other info than that though. MMPC in GR has good reviews - if you are looking to leave town. I know there is a lady from Okemos who is going to MMPC - her surgery is this week in fact.
Good luck to you and I hope things work out quickly. ((hugs))

When did this come about. I was planning on attending the support meetings after my surgery. I wasn't too thrilled with Sparrow. They just seemed cold but maybe that was because I wasn't using their supervised weight loss program. I wanted the VSG so I went to MMPC in Grand Rapids. I will have to call Sherylynn in the morning. I am just completely shocked.
OK I just called Sherylynn and the surgeons are taking over the surgical people. They will be having meeting at their office once a month for pre and post op people. Give her a call before Friday. She said Friday was their last day. Guess some hospital in Charlotte are taking over the non surgical people.
Ok i decided on the VSG as my only options are the lap band or VSG. I have had two resections of my intestines and colon and no one will do any other surgery. After reading about the VSG I just liked the way it sounded. No food getting stuck, no erosions or slippage, no fills and trying to get the correct amount of fill. Read too many stories on here of people getting the lap band then their doctor leaves and where do they go for fills. Can take aspirins with the VSG.
I weighed 284 and the surgeon at MMPC said that I would not lose enough weight with the lap band. My insurance only pays for the VSG as the first part of the DS and BMI of 50. MY BMI is 43 but he was able to get an exception from the insurance. So they must figure the VSG is better for me also. LOL
If you have any questions just email. Just remember I will be gone Thursday til Sunday getting my tummy removed.
