Hi everyone, Just had extensive foot surgery and in a cast up to my knee.  I'll be in the cast for 5 weeks and then in a walking shoe for 2.  I am confined home for the duration of time since I can't drive, I cant work either.  I feel myself looking for something to eat constantly and that's NOT good.  Any suggestions to fill my time? Thanks, Kathy A..........

Thanks Randy, Yes I know there's help out here that's why I posted.  I am not out here real often but I needed some encouragement.  Yes, I do have a couple of hobbies I can do, just can't too long with foot propted up on a chair.

Kathy Sorry to hear about the foot but I am glad that it is all taken care of. I know it sucks not being able o drive too. Especially since you are used to being independent and out.  Do you have any novels to read? I have hobbies that I do to keep me busy too. I scrapbook. Maybe you can organize some old pictures or something. Good luck in your recovery!!! Suzanne

Hi Kathy, sorry to hear about your foot surgery -however glad to hear its on the mend.  These next few weeks will just fly by if you keep yourself ocuppied enough!  first, will someone be there to help you out, whether inside or outside? and if not perhaps you can arrange a few hours a day trade with someone to come keep you company or take you a few places.  Just getting out of the house would do yourself good, and also, finding a nice park to sit at and watch life pass you by also is soothing!!! are you very crafty?  perhaps you could take this time to take old frames and decorate them, and put pictures of loved ones in there and then give them as presents when time comes? Avoid watching Tv...those commercials about food is enough to make anyone want to get in the car and go out and grab something!!! Keep your cupboards and fridge full of the RIGHT things!!! see if you can organize a mid day game day with some of your friends.  Tell them each to bring a snack and make it a snackluck and play cards or a board game to keep you busy!! and finally, sit outside as often as possible to soak up the sunshine and fresh air as possible!!!! It's good for healing!! hugs Stacey

Yes, I need to try to get out more and find something to occupy my time.  The park idea sounds wonderful, I do love to people watch.  I do think today would be a good day to go out and sit in the sun.  I haven't been out in days.  Being stuck in the house 24/7 isn't good. Thank you ladies for your ideas,  I'll put them to good use. Kathy A.......
