Any suggestions on a good cook book for bariatric patients?  Pre-Surgery my husband and I ate out all of the time!  The man has ate more home cooked food this week than he has in a year!  LOL!

Honestly, I'm looking for a simple cook book for bariatric patients.  Any ideas?

I have a few WLS cookbooks, but honestly most go un-used since I've discovered Michelle's website.  She had surgery 2 years ago and believes post-op folks can eat just as well as people who didn't have surgery .... and honestly, since I've started cooking her stuff, I think I've been eating even better than before surgery.  Her stuff is delicious.  Check out her website:

As for books.  Here's a few I have

Eating Well After WLS
Before and After (Susan Marie's story from www.bariatriceating.com)
WLS for Dummies (lots of recipes in the back)

OMG I love Michelle's blog...so many good recipes.  I check it every day.

Here's what I did for ideas.....I go to www.amazon.com.  Look up Weight Loss Surgery Cookbooks and it will give you a lot of them with reviews from people that own them.  Then look at the feature that says "People who bought this book also bought:" and it will give you some more suggestions.

Our city library has a website where you can look up titles and reserve them.  About once every two weeks or so I look on Amazon, write down cookbooks  I think I could use, then reserve them at the library.  Last week I checked out '200 Low Carb Slow Cooker Recipes' and it was pretty good.  You can also look for diabetic cookbooks or heart-healthy books.  Those will usually be low fat and low carb.  Jus****ch your sugar content (shouldn't be a problem for entrees) and you'll do ok.

One more idea...I use www.epicurious.com and if you go under Advanced Search you can choose low-fat, low carb, healthy, etc.  It will come back with some good ones that have user reviews.  Some of them sound complicated, but they give really good instructions and they are different than the same old same old food.

Kevin's Idea is great...I was telling him that I was looking for some new Recipes and told me about this site....Loved it.....and the best part...the people on the board have made the items first before they post so you know what your getting and they are very honest too. If someone makes changes to the recipes, they post and let you know how it went. They are simple and creative. I have found the internet has been my best "cook book" so far.
