Moving to Warren, MI from Maine - need a referral
Hello folks, I am scheduled to have a RNY on August 11th in Maine and 2 1/2 months later will be moving to Warren, MI. I hope to have my surgeon refer me to a surgeon in Warren or the Detroit area for continued follow-up, but I know that some surgeons do not want to take on other surgeon's patients, although I am having my surgery at a Center of Excellence. I will also need some info on area support groups and will be looking for a primary care physicain who has some experience with RNY patients. I am hoping that some of you in the Michigan forum may be able to help me with good referrals. I would be very grateful for your help! Thanks so much!
Hey there!
Warren is in my neck of the woods!
I see an fatastic surgeon! His staff is beyond amazing. I have a great fear of doctors and the moment I met him at his seminar before I had even made my mind up about surgery I loved this man and his honesty and professionalisim as well as his partner. My care in the hospital was super. I am due for my first fill soon so that should be exciting.
Here is the link to his site. I see Dr. Hawasli but his partner Dr. Meguid is just as wonderful.

They also have a support group that meets once a month I think. I have been on the look out for one that meets maybe more often, I haven't had much luck. Yet!
Good luck with your surgery and the move!! I had mine on June 11. let me tell you the 6 weeks have flown by I can't believe I actually did it!!

Thank you Barbie! I am not sure yet which docs will be covered by my insurance since it will be changing between now and then, or if my docs here will refer me to someone, but I am thrilled to have some referrals so that I can feel confortable. Finding a new doc when you are healthy is tough enough, but when you need specialized care, it is even more stressful. Maybe we will meet up at a support group1 I don't move til the end of October though! Just planning ahead.
