 Hi All:

It has been years since i last posted here and these years were not the best.
I come back in hopes someone can help me with finding the right Doctor.
I need help to do whatever i can to help me loose this weight.
Without going into a long history, I had bariatric surgery many years ago and it was not very successful. It was only successful at stopping my rapid weight gain which surly would have cost me my life by now. Nonetheless, I am still morbidly obese and with age has come so many other health problems that I need to work on improving.
I have been feeling sick enough for the past few years that I quit one job that I was working so much that i was sure it would kill me and have barely been able to maintain a job since. Earlier this year, it was discovered by accident that I have Renal Cancer. I had a partial kidney removed in April and have felt horrible ever since. The good news is, there is no remaining evidence of the cancer at this time but nonetheless, I feel so poor I can't maintain a normal life.
I need to do something to change this. I need to get  control of my diet. I truly believe that there is a Dr out there who I will trust, who will be supportive, and will help me to achieve this goal at which I have continually failed at for years and years.
I have seen so many Drs. and I simply can't find one that I feel is that person.
If anyone in SE Michigan knows that special Dr who they feel is the one I'm looking for, please I would like to hear from you. I feel it is my last chance and I can tell you it is scary right now for me going through my Cancer fight without having a primary Dr any longer and not having any support system to help me through the rough periods. Especially knowing that everything I do could have an impact on whether I live the rest of my life cancer free or it comes back sometime in the future.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I hope you do find a doctor that you can trust.  I live in Mid Michigan so I am not familiar with doctors near you.  If you are still doing cancer treatments maybe your oncologist can help you find a primary care.  My next suggestion would be to call the local hospital referral line.  They typically ask you a series of questions then give you a list of doctors that are accepting new patients.  Call your insurance company and they will give you a list of doctors.  Please stay positive and proactive.  This is your life and right now it is still in your hands.  Good Luck!!!

I am from Mid-Michigan as well but I chose to go to Grand Rapids to see the doctors at MMPC.

Dr. Baker in particular works with extreme cases that most doctors won't touch.  They may be able to help you.  MMPC is a Center Of Excellence so most insurance companies take notice.  Here is Dr. Baker's website http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/bariatric+surgeon+profile+Randal+Baker+fgr.html.

I wish you the best of health,
Jenn
