i got approved!!

I am so excited i can hardly stand it!!  I received the reply from HAP HMO after I grieved my denial- and I am approved!  I now have to have my psy eval.. and then the basic tests and then i will get a date!!  Yeah....
They told me to use Dr. Frank from Henry Ford but she is booking in Feb just for the psy eval.. anyone else out there who has HAP HMO and used a different psy??  Does anyone know if i HAVE to use her or are there other options?? 
Anyways. just wanted to share... Praise be to God...

Congratulations Kate!!!   You are on your way now.   You have to use Henry Ford Behavioral Health and that is Dr. Frank.    She is very good, but I believe there is another Doc in the same group that can do the evaluation.  Like I have told you Kate, believe in the process, you will benefit.    Keep me informed of your journey.     Carol

I am so ready for my new life to begin- i just hope it doesn't take too long for the psy eval.. did you do yours with dr frank?  how long was your process from the psy eval until your surgery?  did hap require you at the time to do a stress test or ekg?  how about chest xray?

I did see Dr. Frank.  After you see psych you will do the 4 hour class then see the surgeon.   The surgeon will decide how much weight he wants you to lose and you will have to get medical clearance and they will decide what tests they want you to have based on your medical history.  As for time line, I had my 4 hour class in February and had surgery in June.  Hope that helps.    Carol

If you have to go through Henry Ford why can't you use Dr. Eshelman?  She is through them at the Detroit main campus. 

I am just throwing it in, I used her but I didn't have HAP.....

Great news on the approval, I bet its a load off your mind.  And don't worry about the eval, its nothing major.  Just be honest and be yourself....

i will look into her.. do you remember how long you had to wait to get into see her?  how about how long it took her to send the eval to the next person on the list?

From the time I called her til I was in the office was like 3 days.  It was really fast.  She is in the system with Henry Ford  (obviously) and like 5 days later it was in the system and then I went to my next appt and it was already done and taken care of.   Though she did need to see my twice, it didn't effect my status or anything, she just wanted to make sure that I got the stuff done I needed to get done.  But she is quick an on the ball, I think anyhow...

Congrats!!!! I was just approved also but my surgery date is February 5th. I'm praying that everything goes well.

Congratulations!! I ran into the same problem, I think you do have to use HF people, however, I just kept calling at least three to four times a day and I lucked up on a cancellation.  It's a little irritating, but it beats waiting 60+ days!  Good Luck!
