I am in Grand Rapids at my parents and need to get home to the UP tomorrow. What are the roads like in your areas. We take 131 to Alba Rd. to Gaylord and then 75 to the bridge and then US 2 home.

Thanks! We just came home from Rivertown Mall and were on M6 and we only have to take it 5 miles and there were 4 accidents in that short stretch. All on the other side of the road though. How far does this storm go.

Well we made it home in one piece. DH had me scared to death many times. He is one of those pass everyone cuz they're going too slow drivers. I am just glad I didn't have to drive. We originally got up yesterday and looked at the weather report and had decided to wait and drive home on Christmas morning. It looked like we were going to hit freezing rain most of the way. My Dad and DH kept an eye on the weather and then decided that because the storm fizzled after coming on shore that we would try and leave after lunch. By the time our laundry was done (we decided to do our laundry so we would have clean clothes for today)it was 2:45 when we left. It was raining when we left my parents and by the time we hit Cedar Springs it was snowing and it snowed most of the way home. We got home around 10:20 with a stop in Gaylord for dinner. Fastfood was the only thing open. DH was not happy that we had to go to McDonald's but I know what I can eat there safely. A grilled snackwrap without lettuce. Is there anything we can eat at Arby's? I haven't been to one in so long I am not sure. That is where he wanted to go. KFC was another place he wanted.

I just saw the author of the 'Eat this....not that' books on TV.  Arby's Turkey and Swiss was one of the 'bad' sandwiches they have in the book.  Looking at Arby's website, the bread that they serve their sandwiches on is honey wheat, and there are 361 calories in the bread alone!  That particular sandwich has 708 calories!!!

Also, the salads at Arby's don't have the option of grilled chicken, like McDonald's and I think Wendy's do.    If you had to eat at Arby's, maybe do just the roast beef from a sandwich or a grilled chicken sandwich and skip the bun?

If you're by the computer and have the time, it's worthwhile to go to all of the fast food places' websites.  Get the nutrition info. and maybe even print it out.  That way, when you're on the road, you will have an idea of the best things to get.   This helped me a lot when I went on vacation and it was late and only certain places were open.

Brenda,

A good site to check out is www.dwlz.com , she does Weigh****chers and has everything laid out by WW points, but she has most nutritional information for about 570 restaurants.  All together, which makes it nice.  Only downfall is it doesn't have sugars or protiens listed.  Can't have everything.  It would give you a good general idea though.

Pam

PS - Arby's I generally opt for the kids meal, Turkey & Cheese or Ham & Cheese with applesauce and milk.

We write our own destiny.  We become what we do.
