Hi Randy,

It's actually me dealing with this issue and I am RNY patient.  Never had this problem before and it is quite uncomfortable.  Doc says he thinks I am having the spasms due to stress.  So weird how your body can be affected by the different stresses in life.

Thoughts and prayers for you and your family right now.  I know it is a very difficult time.

Carey,

Howdy do...
I suffer from dysphagia (swallowing difficulty)  When I eat my food gets stuck, I can talk and breath but it don't go down. Sometimes I have to "get rid of it", Sometimes its a HUGE mucus like bubble that comes out, other times I just relax and after a bit  (sometimes 10 seconds other times a couple minutes) it goes down.  It hurts like an SOB and it feels like a heart attack actually.  Mine is caused by acid reflux, I am taking 2 different meds, prilosec and zantac, PLUS pepcid complete chewable.  My acid is really bad... If I don't take the meds its really bad, since my surgery I have had an ulcer already and only a few episodes of this but I am not sure this is what you have but stress makes mine worse....

Anyhow, my best to you and I hope you get this figured out, its no fun but at least you know that you aren't alone...

Hugs to you
Christina

Thanks for your input Christina.  I don't have any issues with acid.  But the pressure in the chest is unbelievable.  Doc issued some meds so we'll see how this works.

No known causes for it. It's usually just a guess. Some people who have a bad acid problem develop it and we can get it because we hav our vagal nerve screwed with. Stress makes the acid go up and the tube reacts to it.
I say warm relaxing tea and nice thoughts with a hot bath and no work for a month.

I like your recommendation KP!!!  Don't think the doc will go for no work for a month though!
