Yeah you can come to the support groups. We have a lot of people that come before they have the surgery. It helps with answering any questionst that you have before surgery.

Thanks for the info, I am going to wander into the BAriatric Center at McLaren this week and see if there is anything I can do to speed the process along (have to wait until Aug 30th for the psych eval). Hopefully I can attend their support group as part of the pre surgery requirements.

Yes it is preautho. they said this was just the part the hospital bills them when the procedure is done. So it covers nothing else. I just hate the thought of keep going with the progress to be forced to stop because the bill keeps going up and I cant afford it. I was planning on not starting the pre surgery stuff until I made sure I had enough money in the bank but it seems unless I have 15,000 to cover the surgery and copays, and the other fees I should just keep waiting.
Anyone know any places that help loan money for this? Like a medical loan company? I know they have ones for dental, eye, and plastic surgery but can not find a legit one for this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the MI boards. Gongratulations on your sleeve. How is it going? This board doesn't seem to be as busy as it was when I was banded.
I too hang out on the VSGboards & lapband boards as I was hoping to be revised from band to VSG. I am approved to have the band out but, was denied the VSG. I have done a verbal apply so far.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

I've been hanging out on the VSG board, and didn't know this "MI" board existed. I had VSG on 6/18/12 and so far am doing well.
I'm wondering if any of you are in the Traverse City area. I'm trying to find out if there are any OH events or support groups in my area.

Did they Pre authorize it? You know get in writing just how much is
covered.
For that much money I would expect that they would. Call and check.
You will get an EOB back from your insurance company. Explanation of
Benefits. Keep this paper safe. If after surgery they come back and dont
pay for somthing then you will have thier piece of paper saying they will.
Start documenting who you talk to and when and what was said. Be specific
in your notes! These will come in handy one day trust me.
I would not go into elective surgery like this without a preauthorization. You just
never know what is gonna come back to bite you in your butt.
If it is too hard dealing with Beaumont go see another surgery center. Some one
else might want to do a little more work for you.
I believe St. John has a center of excellance also Harper Hospital in
detroit.
