red cross connections?

Does anyone have any red cross connections? I mean I have been trying for three weeks to get through on that phone line and nada. I know there are like a gagillion people trying to get through. lol lol I just can not take time off from work to stand in a line all day long. wish i could but I cant. A guy that works with me filled out a red cross application via his sis in law and i just thought I would ask if any of you had any kind of connections like that. Not looking to get my money in three hours or anything just would like to go ahead and get my application in you know. i luckly enough was paid for my 2 weeks off work, but my dh was not and my little bit of money is barley getting us through as he is the major bread winner in our family. just thought i would ask. just another thought wonder why on the red cross site they dont have the application there you can submit right on line. seems like it would really make the process easier. hmmmmmmmm Denise

I dont have the connection but dont quit trying. If you know someone who is volunteering or will be volunteering then they might can hook you up. I think in Hattiesburg they stopped giving out tickets this week and will resume next week. Maybe you could even volunteer this weekend somewhere. I was lucky enough to know someone who was volunteering and in exchange all I had to do was babysit.. I had a couple of tickets and gave them to people I knew that needed them. If I had known you were needing one I would have saved ya one. Good luck.. I hope it works out for you.

I used to have connections. Heck, in fact I used to be THE connection! In Germany, I was Acting Station Manager and Assistant Station Manger and Volunteer. In North Dakota, I was the after-hours worker. But I don't know anybody locally in the ARC. Just keep on trying. Maybe you could pass your number to someone who could call for you and when they get thru do a 3 way call to include you? Might work. Smoochies Arlies

thanks you guys. i appreciate all the help. me and a buddy here from work are taking off tomorrow to drive to al and apply. keep me in your prayers that we get there in time and not be turned away. lol lol if not i will keep trying the nunmber and then just reconcile myself that it was not meant to be.lol Thanks again! denise

Hope your luck is better than mine. 12 hours in line for a number for the red cross just to be told they will no longer give out numbers in our area. Applied for FEMA online neaarly 2 weeks ago. Nothing. Just says pending. Food stamps?? I guess I was just 1 county to far away. We were without electric nearly 3 weeks. Lost all food in the freezer & fridge. DH is self employed & missed more than 2 weeks work. I know these organizations are out there & helping some, but I always get told "we have to take the evacuees first." I know that is the way it should be, but here we've just gone thru another hurricane & still no help. Everyone keeps it quite when they are to open FEMA or Red Cross sites & only the few that have connections manage to get any help. Those already receiving food stamps got an extra $400+ added to their card & we can't even get $20 to feed our kids. Go figure. I've even emailed several times to help volunteer & get turned down for that. Who'd a thunk?
