Getting to know you on Sunday the 11th
Dawn, I like asparagus, right out of the can, Jolly Green Giant, either hot with butter or cold on a salad. My question is how to prepare fresh asparagus. I tried a recipe one time that used the broiling technique, but it was too tough. Can you help me? This discussion has made me hungry for asparagus.
I was lucky enough to grow up where there were fields of asparagus, the plants have to be 3 years old before they can harvest them. It's wonderful raw. I prefer mine crunchy but not raw.
After washing them, shake well and break off the pithy stem ends. wrap in dampened paper towel, place in microwave and cook 30 seconds. If not done enough for you heat another 15 sec.
Hope you don't have the gene that makes you be able to detect asparagus in urine! If you're lucky you don't!
