Pain and News
Man, I spent the rest of the day in bed, but had to take my 6 year old to the doc. I was miserable. I was hurting so badly. I was in tears by the time I got home. My wonderful DH came home and took care of everything. Even did the dishes that had piled up on me. I'm a little better today - going to try to get some laundry done. Probably not smart, but Mt. Washmore is driving me
I think the kids are down to their last pair of socks today. Somethings gotta give....SOON!

Hey Kimberly, I have a lot of back pain too. I usually have to lay on a heating pad every night so that my pain eases off enough for me to go to sleep. Not to mention I take tylenol PM every night to help with the pain and to help me sleep. It is lower back pain and it hurts, but it is more of an annoying pain than a sharp pain. Is that the way yours is? If you find out what is causing it, let me know.
I am spoiled and I go and get a massage every two weeks, that does give me some temporary relief, but my therapists says that my lower back muscles and butt muscles are always so tight that it is the reason I am always in pain. I don't know what to do about it though.

Rhonda,
Ok, this may be TMI for some, so ignore if you really aren't curious.
My back pain is middle back and feels muscular. It is debilitating. It's not sharp, just constant. I mentioned it to my doc at my 6 month check-up and he said if it continued then I should see an orthopedic doc. I've been trying to pay close attention to my body since then and I think I've decided that my back pain is related to intestinal problems. I know that may sound weird, but my stomach area tends to hurt or feel bloated at the same time my back does. I thought it was just tension from the pain, but .... Here comes the TMI part.... It seems to be happening when I have a hard time going to the bathroom. I go, but all is firm. I'm going to double up on water/liquids today and see if that helps. I think I'll also try a stool softener. Going to call the nurse today and see if she can recommend something.
I also have the problem of bloating and pain if I wear anything tight around my belly. Hip huggers work really well for me. I bought some new underwear, not tight, but firm, and I wonder if that isn't causing some of the problem?
Anyway - just willing to try anything at this point. I'm going

I have kept that in mind. I worry about them all the time! My pain is not low like Kidney pain though. I did have a battle with nausea yesterday, but I think it was because I took darvacet on an empty tummy.
If it's not significantly better over the weekend, I'm seeking other options.
Thanks!
Kimberly

I don't think it's an orthopedic you need, but a neurosurgeon. Orthos work on joints (arms, legs, hips, shoulders, etc.) but not the spine. If they refer you to an ortho, you'll just have another bill before going to a neurosurgeon. They specialize in spine and it's problems (and sounds like you have a disc problem to me...perhaps a bulging disk or even a herniated one) Don't fool around with the pain--if it gets no better, be active to go to a specialist. Pinched nerves in your back can also contribute to the pain you described and if left untreated you can have even more problems than a hurting back.
I work for an orthopedist, and we refer everyone with that type problem to a neurosurgeon. (and I work at a reputable clinic in jxn
)
if there's anything i can do to help, let me know.

Oh Mary - thanks SO MUCH for the tip!!! If it's not better I'm going to my PCP and I'll have him refer me. I am worried about it because I've had back problems most of my life, but nothing like the pain I'm in now. I hate having to take the darvacet and I only had a few anyway, but I did find some non-aspirin excedrin yesterday (well, hubby did) and I'm trying that now. So far today I'm feelin ok - but I can tell it's still there.
Thanks!
