Topic: OT...Im missing Mississippi bad...Tupelo, Amory, area...
Man I miss home. I was raised in Mississippi and lived there for over 25 years in the Tupelo, Aberdeen, Amory area and I miss the south so much. You may have guessed by my name I live in Indiana now. I miss the southern hospitality and the food too:)... My mom and 3 of my brothers still live down there so I get to come visit every once in a while but not near enough...Hopefully by next April's Amory Railroad Festival I will be down 100 pounds or so..So anyway I just wanted to say mornin to all my Mississippi folks, and watch out for those crazy hurricane's!  Later & Y'all take care now..

Looks like I'm just ahead of you surgery wise, so I'll help you all I can.  I'll probably blog a lot of my experiences, because my children and grandesthildren will keep up with me that way, so you may check it out any time you wish.  I'll try to do some sample days for you at each level.  I am not doing anything special pre-op except walking.  I try to eat right, but fall short way to often to said I do eat right.  Your doctor and nutritionist will provide you with a diet that will seem confusing, but study it and practice making menus.  It will then make sense to you.  I am excited for you and hope you hear something soon!

I have him also and he is great and funny. His nurse are top notch. They are all very helpful and very nice. They treat you with respect which is hard to find in people when you are heavy,( I have found). Would not choose another doctor.

Topic: RE: Thank God I found Mississippi !!!!!
Hello, I'm in Gautier, Ms down on the Gulf Coast. I love this forum, they are so helpful and I hope to be once I get going. I started at 305 down to 285 before surgery, waiting to be approved by my husbands insurance. I'm also Medicaid so they say I won't have anything to pay. I talked to my insurance nurse yesterday and she said I'm about 3 week out from surgery. About 1 week out from approval. Hope so, I can't wait to get started and find that thin person in me again like when I was younger, she is just waiting to get out . lol

Topic: RE: Hey Ms board, what was for supper?
I had to work late this evening.  So, I ate a turkey sandwich on lite wheat with a piece of string cheese.  Not too exciting, I know, but it was healthy and full of protein.  LOL.  I did have a good lunch, though.  I had sauteed zuccini, mushrooms, and onions, with pan seared chicken breast and 1/2 cup rice.  Very tasty.  Good luck with cutting out the carbs.  It is a hard thing to do, and I struggle myself sometimes and have to reel myself back in and get back to basics.

Topic: Hey Ms board, what was for supper?

We had pan seared b/s chicken strips coated with Mrs. Dash, salad, baked potato and fixed hubby a roll. I put my chickem on my salad and are a little of my baked potato w/ cheese. There was enough chicken left over that I will take that and a salad to work for lunch tomorrow. I am really trying to work in more fruit and veggies and stop eating snack crackers and bread. The carbs have crept back in and are trying to take over. Lookd like hubby will be eating a lot more chicken than he prefers. I have to get myself back on track. Tomorrow is trash day so the contents of the junk food cabinet are going out with the trash. My hubby and I don't need what is in there and our son is some what of a health food kind of guy. I really really wish that there was support group closer than 45 minutes away from my home. I sure do need one!!! Any whoo, hope you guys had a healthful supper!!

The surgeon you use will usually give you guidelines to go by with all levels of eating after surgery.  You should have access to a nutritionist through your surgeon as well.  If you don't, just come on here and let us know, and maybe one of us on here can share our information with you from our surgeons or nutrtionist.  My surgery was almost five years ago.  So, I would have to do some digging to find my early out stuff.  LOL.  But if you end up not getting anything from your surgeon, I will gladly see what I can find to help you out.  Good luck with your surgery.  Do you have a date yet?  Keep us posted.

Well, I am glad that you came out and posted.  Congrats on your success.  I am right there with you with snacking.  Those head games continue to plague us.  I guess they always will.  We will just always have to be diligent in our efforts to fight them.  It is hard some days.  That is why I love this place.  I can get support and motivation when I feel weak.  I hope you will keep on posting with us, and maybe we can get this place more active.  Talk to ya later.
