My day is Monday as well. I go in at 10:30 AM. Good to have a surgery brother on that day. Good luck and congrats. See you on the losers bench.

4 to 5 weeks of liquids!!!??  Geez, I hope you've been misinformed!  My post-op diet was 2 weeks of liquids, then soft for 2, then modified "regular" food, etc...  I also was not hungry for a few days after surgery, but REALLY got tired of the liquid diet anyway.  I guess it getting used to consuming no texture or something like that.  Pain for me was minimal.  I was on the morphine pump directly after surgery, but it made me VERY nauseated so I didn't use it and asked for something else.  I was given Tylenol with codine and it worked fine for me.  Best of luck to you and let us know how you do!

Hello and welcome to the board. I am 9 days post op. I, like you, worried about the pain but in actuality it was not nearly as bad as I thought. Not to say there wasnt some pain, there was, just not as bad as I had imagined. I guess it toes to that old saying about the biggest fear is the fear of the unknown.

Do what the doc tells you and I am sure you will be fine.

Good luck on Monday, I am sure it will go well.

I am about 5 weeks post op RNY, I had expected to be quite uncomfortable for at least a week.  I was on a pain pump for my 2 days in the hospital and they gave me two doses of pain medication (Lortab) before I left for home.  When I got home only took pain before bed on the first night.  My wife is 2 weeks post op and she only took pain medication at bedtime for a few nights, mainly to help her sleep through the discomfort of rolling over in bed.

I hope you have a similar experience, just remember, the more you walk, the better you will feel and the quicker you will get home.
