I'm a big fan of weightlifting. Just be sure your form is prefect. It's very easy to injure yourself with bad form. Getting some training up front is a good idea.

Lol, love it! 1 day, 15 hours and 15 minutes until I enter the POCU!

Any strange buzzing or strange sounds from your belly post-op - ask your Dr. to call his cell phone.

My best advice is in the signature line!

Topic: Strength Training - Barbells - giving it a try

Has anyone here tried any form of strength training using barbells and traditional exercises like the dead lift, squat, bench press, and military press?

I'm seriously considering hiring a coach - through Starting Strength On Line Coaching (Mark Rippetoe's system). I am a total noob in terms of any type of weight lifting.

I'm wondering if anyone has dealt with the high-calorie and high-protein (like 200+ grams a day) demands that come at times with weight training.

I've recently beat back 30+ lbs of regain, and am once again at a reasonable weight. Now I'm tired of being a weakling, so this time I want to do something about it!

A few things have worked for me over the years with night eating. You can drink a lot of water at night...Which means you need to get up more in the middle of the night to pee!! Raw vegetables...Just stuff your face with them. They are boring, but good for you...Gives your that full feeling. Also things like rye crackers or plain (not generic) Cheerios. My downfall is tortilla chips at night...The salt, the oil, the crunch!!

High weight (June 2011): 328

Pre surgery weight (2/1/17): 283

M1: -32.5 M2: -11.9 M3: -16.4 M4: -12.6 M5: -14.6

Last Sunday weighed (7/23): 189.6

This week: 189.2

Been out of town for a couple of weeks and missed my weigh ins. Considering how I ate on this trip, I'm pretty happy to see a basically unchanged weight. Very thankful for the restriction - I ate off plan but still kept (most) eating only to mealtimes. I was really good with exercise though, between hotel gyms and walking. Back home and back on track now.

Have a great week

I've been trying different things to curb night eating for a while. My most recent attempt is to plan calories into my day in the evening. I've been doing that by not eating till noon.

The results are mixed.

Hope you get that figured out soon. I get night sweats (like change the sheets because you can wring them out sweats) if I have a hypoglycemic reaction. I've checked my blood glucose and its gone in the low 40's which is pretty dangerous.

The steroids will hurt your weight for sure. Good luck with the weight loss.
