Wife has surplus of her GLP-1 and helping to reduce it down. Using it 2-3 times a week. Worst side effect is the diarrhea! Likely to use it till surplus is gone or I'm back to two hundred or less.

To answer your question about Hawaii - in a word "yes"! Many things to do there. Mentioned Pearl Harbor, the Arizona Memorial and touring the Missouri where Japan surrendered while ship was anchored in Tokyo Bay. Also have the airplane museum that is on Ford Island. Have to go to Ford Island to get to the Missouri You ride the tour bus shuttle that runs between the Pearl Harbor / submarine museum to Ford Island not a boat. Only way to the Arizona is by a Navy launch. Have roughly 30 minutes once you get there. They reiterated several times before going to the Memorial that with almost 1,000 men entombed on the ship it is a cemetery and treat it as such. You still see the fuel oil that still surfaces from the ship. Did not do the full tour of Missouri. Could tell wifey was getting tired so kept to the two decks where Surrender was signed and saw and heard about Kamikaze plane struck ship. Captain, much to the chagrin of his crew, ordered the Japanese pilot to be buried at sea in a body bag made to look like Japanese flag. Message being this man had given his all for Japan and as fellow combatants show him some respect.

Did not do sub or plane museums. Each tour has sperate admission and we were feeling our day. On Ford Island the hangar the planes are in has bullet/bomb damage from December 7th. The old air control tower is maintained, painted orange and white, and I think still used. What struck me looking out the windows on the way in and out was the asphalt tarmac with grass growing up through it was that this place too was hallowed ground because Americans had been killed there too.

Polynesian Cultural Center is 75-90 minute bus ride from Honolulu. Covers the traditions and culture of Samoa, Tonga, and another six island nations the native Hawaiians came from. Skipped the luau part. Would have been midnight getting back to hotel and being two WLS patients return on investment for price of meal(s) was not worth it.

If and when you go if you want to golf - travel agent can hook you up with place to go. Use a travel agent the first time or catch a seat, or seats, on a tour package. Since likely you will not have enough intel to put a trip together and get in a crack. Big waves, 20-25 footers were hitting the North shore of Oahu but did not go see them or the Dole Pineapple Plantation. Maui was off the table because of all the wild fire damage. Have it from frequent fliers that Kona is great place to go. Off peak is time to go and avoid holidays, and December 7th anniversary. DO NOT RENT a car in advance. Get one at the hotel on a PRN basis to use for the day and bring back there. Space is LIMITED and and public parking is like buying retail space on Rodeo Drive! Gasoline is just as bad. Was scrapping the bottom side of $5 a gallon. Food is ass high to a giraffe and that is only because it all has to be imported. You will not find much fast food at all. Lots of Japanese/Chinese/Thai/Korean. Locals have their long standing favorites that they will literally stand in line to get. Malasadas in particular. Years ago the Hawaiians procured them from the Portuguese.

I can see us going back but not anytime soon. Have to let finances recuperate. Maybe go sell some plasma! Only gripes were a saggy bed and how expensive everything is. Traffic sucks but people don't honk or shout at each other. Check this out - they use their blinkers! Asian drivers are so polite. I barely touched surface. Like I said let fingers do walking, find travel agent, ask around whose gone etc.

Crazy Texas Weather closed schools...and the city | Into Another World35 Hilarious Texas Winter Memes To Warm Your Heart

Two weeks: 214.8

This week: 211.2

Pics are accurate! Little more snow/ice on ground than depicted. Fortunately for us electricity is on, DirecTV and Wi-Fi are working so were good. Stocked up on necessities so can make till Tuesday when it gets above freezing again.

Thanks for holding down the fort last week. Can let cat from bag - glad we came home from Hawaii last Sunday and not today! Probably have been diverted to who knows where because of all the cancelations at DFW. Did week in Honolulu to do the "touristy" things. Pearl Harbor and Polynesian Cultural Center. Weather was great there! Going in January meant fewer people but traffic still heavy.

Find out today who is going to Super Bowl. No dog in the hunt but I'll go with the visiting teams. Patriots and Rams.

Have a Great Week and stay warm!!

Christmas well within tolerances. Cowboys won. One more game next Sunday then talking heads will take over about what to do for next year. Too many college games of note to touch on all of them but couple of squeakers. BYU and Georgia Tech and the game that caused older brother to be bi-polar since he went to both schools. LSU and Univ. of Houston. Houston won. Needless to say best post game fight goes to California and Hawaii! More CFS induced vegetation on tap for this week. Also have to start working on taxes too.

Obligatory warning, retired or not, about drinking and driving New Year's Eve. Don't do it.

Happy New Year!!

Nice pre holiday dip.

Would have preferred Oklahoma and Tulane to have won yesterday but alas they didn't. Depending on Texas Tech to win and keep on going but that game not till New Year's Day.

Merry Christmas, Feliz Navidad, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanza. Do what you do and enjoy it with people you care about or can tolerate for a short extended period of time!

No harm no foul caused by Thanksgiving. Still have some ham slices and a couple mini SF pecan pies left.

Cowboys held off the Chiefs and College football's rivalry weekend did not disappoint! Ol' Miss did beat State to put us out of our misery for the year but their coach Lane Kiffin appears to be moving on to LSU from Oxford. Texas beat A&M in the first game of their Thanksgiving series resurrection. Lot of tight 3-7 point games but some butt kickings as well.

Perfect meme! Great minds think alike and you beat me to it this morning!

College football getting in last "chump" games before rivalry games this weekend. Some lopsided scores 70-0 Alabama over E. Illinois. Notre Dame gave the Orange men of Syracuse the red ass 70-7. TCU beat Houston by three. Missed FG in last minute to tie. LSU held off W. Kentucky. State off till Friday when they play Ol' Miss in the Egg Bowl from Starkville. Powers that be moved it from Thanksgiving Day to Friday so Texas and A&M could reignite their long time Thanksgiving Day rivalry.

Honey Baked ham arrived Friday and is sitting in fridge minus a few slices we had for supper Friday night. Turkey is thawing at Mom's.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Mississippi State beat Arkansas yesterday!! 38-35. Almost 200 yards in penalty yardage, mostly personal fouls, to wit: late hits, targeting etc, on their part worked in our favor. Wake up this morning and game is being rerun on SEC Network. So much for the talking heads.

2025 State Fair of Texas - Texas Monthly

Yes we got trip into State Fair this week. Wound up parking this side of some town in Egypt rode tram back to Fair. We shared a Fletchers Corny dog, they are huge, and wandered around some. No rides though. Was warmer, more crowded and nosier than anticipated so not stay long. We were trying to find tram stop to go back to parking lot when wife face planted over an expansion joint in the concrete. One small cut above right eye but no stitches. Black eye starting to slowly fade. DPD and DFR have some really cool tools and good people! When you have the budget I guess you can have nice things.

I'm taking advantage of the complimentary Premier Protein shakes that came a couple weeks ago and drinking them several times a week. Wife doing the GLP-1 route and seems to be working. Lost 12 pounds so far. Her jean size has gone down a size or too. When she does not feel up to eating then I'll break out a shake and drink it while watching TV. Seems to be working. "Everyday" old too small cargo shorts not a snug as they used to be.

Texas overturned OU yesterday in the Cotton Bowl. Game is a great boost to the Dallas economy along with the Texas State Fair, where the stadium is located, that is going on. Trying to get there this week. I haven't been in 40 years. Won many a pack/carton of cigarettes playing the games on the Midway back in the day. After open weekend State goes to Gainesville to play Florida this week.

Interesting CFB yesterday. GA/TN, Notre Dame/A&M, Ga Tech/Clemson. MSST cleaned Alcorn State's clock 63-0! Road tripping next week to watch Northern Illinois and get some Little Dooey's bar-be-que.

Glad you found yourself a painter that probably has some skills from working on his rentals. Instead of vinyl siding to replace the bricks over the garage going back in with press board looking siding that will have to be painted occasionally but will hold up better than vinyl to the weather.
