Very upset...
My husband just called from work and told me that his company is changing insurance as of Oct. 1st. I am with Medcost now and had a pre-approval. Now, they are moving to BC BS PPO. I seems like i will have to go through the whole process over again. Beth at Duke is gone for the day (she deals with the insurance at Duke). But, it would seem that my surgery would be canceled.
The only thing that would make it work is if they could get me in before Oct. 1st, but, she said last week that there have been no cancellations. Oh....how upsetting.......I feel like crying.
I know that sounds so petty given the day and what the nation is going through. But, can't help how I feel.
Caroline.
Of course you are upset and you don't need to justify your feelings. They are as real as anyone else's. However, this hasn't yet played the whole way through so I would just stay on top of it and explain to my surgeon the need for haste and you might be surpirsed what can be achieved when you get proactive! But above all, trust the process!
Wishing you all the best,
Caroline sweetie! I am so sorry this happened today!!!
I am not an expert, but my instinct tells me that you will not have to go throught the whole process again. I have BCBS PPO and they approved my surgery in the matter of a couple of hours. All your surgeon will have to do is submit your records for approval. Review can take up to 2 weeks but BCBS of nc is favorable for this surgery and your program is considered a Center of Excellence by BCBS of NC which makes approval process even easier!
Hold your head up girl! This is going to work out for you! It may require a lot of patience over the next few weeks. (we have talked about how I don't have any) But this is going to happen for you.
I am praying for you and if you need to talk more, please call.
Take good care, Caroline!

Thanks! You are right...I don't know how it will work out. I just have to pray about it. Things always have a way of working out. I am a worrier by nature...which I am trying to work on. And like you said you are Candice...not good with patience. :) I will keep you up to date....
Thanks everyone!!
Caroline
Caroline -
I believe that Candice is right. They'll just submit your "package" to BCBSNC and I understand that they are very quick in approving. Since you've already been approved once, they'd have a hard time justifying why not now. I truly believe you will be fine, but I want you to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers ... and as Suzanne so aptly said, you have every right to your feelings, no matter what.
Give me a call if you need to talk.

You and I ride in the same boat when it comes to patience. I also do not have any!! I would take a deep breath and THINK POSITIVE. I bet all you have to do is submit your package to your new insurance company. Its not like you changed Doctors and all your testing is up to date so try not to worry!!! I know easier said then done but Im praying for ya!!!
Best Wishes~

I truly think this will all be ok- I see 2 scenarios happening- they "work-in" your surgery date soon- like next week! or Duke advises to hold tight until BSBC is your new insur and literally submit it on day 1. Seems to me that obesity can not be excluded as a pre-existing because obviously we all had to be obese to require the surgery. If you have a way to email Beth- I would do so now and then follow up tomorrow with a phone call to discuss all your options!
But Car- it will happen! Promise you that! This is just a speed bump in the road of life! Hang in there girl!!!!
Keep us posted!

Hey Caroline,
I would really press your surgeon to get you in before the end of September. I would call them every day, politely, and ask if there was a cancellation. Don't let them forget. Sure they can resubmit, but who wants to back track? Try to get this done with the approval you have. BTW I just read an article by Joyce Meyer on patience. I will quote her here, "Patience is not the ability to wait, it is your attitude while having to wait."
I always need to work on my attitude! Keeping you in my prayers for a cancellation!
Blessings,
