Hi Again? I'm now on day 7 of my 14 day liquid diet and I'm about to lose my mind!!!!! Does anyone have any recipe ideas other than the mixes I bought and pureed soups? I not feeling well anyway, sore throat, headache, etc. but now I 'm starting to feel depressed as well. Is this normal? Will spicing up my diet help?

Deb,   I'm sorry you're having a hard time and not feeling well.  I don't have any good suggestions because I didn't have to do the liquid diet back in the stone ages of WLS.   I would try to spice the soups, maybe some tobasco sauce or Mrs Dash, nothing too crazy...  Keep up the good work, try to stay positive and focused on why you're having WLS and how healthy you'll become afterwards!  I know it's easier said than done, I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!!!!!!

Hi Deb, Gosh I am so sorry you are struggling so much with this phase of your surgery prep.  I am so grateful all I had to do was a low carb diet for 2 weeks. Are you allowed puddings and custards?  What about Cream of wheat?  Applesauce.  Yogurt.  Those all qualified as liquid when I was allowed "full" liquids, that is liquids other than clear liquids. Hope this helps.  Keep up the good work.  You are over th hump now!

The liquid diet I was on was pretty limiting and didnt leave much room for spicing up :( I would definately call the Dr if you are having a sore throat and let them know. As for the headache... could be related to not drinking enough water!  Only way I 'spiced' up was using different flavors of light soy milk with my shakes... gave me a few flavor options.

Thanks Everyone, I think I have a case of the flu on top of the fact that I'm bored with my diet. I was always a person who ate more when I was sick. Give me a pork chop with mashed potatoes and put me to bed and I was happy. Not this time, which may be why i'm feeling blue. I will try some different flavored yogurts and jellos. I haven't done those yet. Thanks, Ladies!

Look at the bright side. YOU ARE HALF WAY THERE!! The first week is the hardest, its all down hill from here. As for the headaches and sore throat, you maybe a little dehydrated. You'll notice if your sipping water or crystal light constantly the hand to mouth fixation will help. Just remember this is working on your mental ties to food. After your surgery think how easy this will be. Another thing that helped me was sugar-free ice pops. I'm sure these are OK, they last a long time if you just suck on them. Makes it feel your eating something. Anyway remember alot of this is in your head. If your consuming the right amount of calories with soups and shakes, your not starving, it just feels like it. Hang in there pretty soon it won't be so bad. GOOD LUCK, I know its hard but you can do it. Peace, Karla
