Period Question.....I guess.......

As most of you know, I've had lapband on July 26th.  I haven't had a period for about a year now, and last month, and now this month, I've been getting splochy traces of "old" blood, not fresh.  I've heard of ppl starting their cycle after wls, but thought I'd ask if this is how theirs started....my gut tells me to call gyn and have it checked, but untill Monday, thought I'd throw it out there.   BTW, went and weighed for the week today, I get to move my ticker!! Forgot to add....first fill scheduled Oct. 2 with Dr. B at 10:15 am. Nancy

It's been so long since I have had a period, I probably should just keep my mouth shut, but my guess it is just your body making a last-ditch effort to have a period.  You KNOW we are all going to tell you to see the gyn anyway!  LOL Congrats on the fill and on the weight loss!  I will be thinking of my Noodle as I am back at work for the first day on the 2nd!  Looks like you are easily going to make it to your goal for the beach trip!

Hi Nancy,      Sorry I can't help you with this one. I am having the opposite problem with no trace of a cycle lately. I had one in the middle of July and none since. My gyno said that with the weight loss it may be irregular like that. Plus I may be somewhat peri-menopausal.I used to be like clockwork but the last year or so I may go every other month or so. Perhaps with your weight loss that is why the spotting. I wish you luck with all of it and congrats on the weight loss. Awesome job! Lisa

ME!!!!! I had NEVER had my own period, then I loss a little an here it comes. For me it started like you are saying.....spots that were like old. Then finally (well I guess so) monthly for over a year now.  I wanted to say about 3 - 5 months into my banding is when it started for me. I was giving birth control pills to have one, now I don't take them and while I am over excited I am excited. :)

I was on depo when I had the surgery... about 2 weeks post-op I started to spot a bit. Then for the first 3 months post-op I would get horrible cramps and PMS when I would 'normally' had my period. At 3 about 4 months out I switched to oral BC (had been on depo for 2 years so it was time for a break!) and havent had any issues since. Mine didnt start with old blood not fresh but I know what you are talking about... I take the BC where I get 4 periods a year and at the end I get that old blood look. When I called my OB she said it was normal for WLS patients to have some issues when they are recently post-op because of the MWL.
