I shall start by say, "Carol don't get mad at me, but you need all the support we can give you!"   Everyone Carol needs our support.  She has been where many of us married and unmarried have been pre opp and post opp.  Carol is going thru some life changing events like alot us experience but I am afraid for her health wise.. WHile I know she will come out a stronger woman.  We know with small children and the emotional stages we go thru during this process life gets very tough and sometimes we just want to give up, stop following the rules and say the hell with it, but we can't!!!!  We first must take care of our bodies by keeping it healthy which helps in the long run of keeping our minds chemically in balanced.  My sister in law's, sister in law was almost committed to Dorthy Dix's this past weekend because she for whatever reason has been having alot of mental breakdown issues and she has stopped her vitamins, doctor appointments and the whole works a while back.  She was low in B vitamins the first time they checked her and got her started back doing the right thing but now she has stopped again. Her family is blaming her gastric by pass because she is consumed with believing she is now ugly with her hanging fat and skin that is left.  She seems like she has gotten pschophrenic (SP?)with all the symptoms.  My sister in law is suppose to have lap band monday but is scared to death she will end up the same way.  They keep asking me how I am doing and just told me this weekend what her sister in law was going thru.  She is about 2 years out.  They didn't want to scare me.  I do know that keeping our bodies healthy, staying on our vitamins, minerals and going to our doctors and having them check our blood is something we will have to do for our life time.  .  This is so very important if we had whatever kind of issues before weight loss.  It doesn't magically go away with the pounds and sometimes might get worse as the pounds do go away.. As loosers sometimes we feel alone and alot of times family doesn't understand because they just can't be in our head untill they might ever have to walk in our shoes.  Sooo this is were we at times have to take a strong friend loveing stance to help each other.    Carol has lost a hundred pounds since May, which is great!  But we have to remember it is only good for us if we have done it the healthy way our nuts tell us to do.  We can starve our bodies in a bad way by not eating the things we are suppose to.. She like me, has a rough time eating the proteins we need cause they just don't go down good or makes you want to gagg.  I think we all know we have to have alot of protein espically when we all go thru that terriable hair loss period.  This can also be a very depressing time and seems like it will never stop until it is almost all gone.  Carol and I are also experiancing it.  Her's is apparently worse at this point than mine. I hope I haven't overstepped but I am very concerned for our friend inWLS and I know that we all share this commin bond espically as woman.  Some of us have been thru some very low times in our lives but with the Lord and good friends we have made it out.  So please keep Carol in your prayers and look her up and send her a message.  I have her number if you would like to contact me.  None of us are experts but we are great at compassion and support!

Lynn -

I had been missing Carol and had sent her a note before. I'll send her another.

The sign of a true friend is when you extend yourself because you are needed. I believe that you are needed at this time. Thanks for extending your hand of friendship to Carol so that we can do the same.

Lynn,  You are a true friend in deed, I'd want my friends to ask for help for me if I couldn't.  I will keep Carol in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you.  There are times in all our lives when we need friends, help and prayers.  Even when we don't know how to ask it.  Even from those prayers and uplifts from people we have never known do go a long way.

I'm still new here and don't know Carol, but I certainly extend my well wishes and prayers of support.

This sounds potentially like a "good" (for lack of a better word) example of why the psyc piece of all this WLS is SOOOOOOO key.  My sister, who is a counselor has expressed to me since day ONE that this was her biggest concern for me in this whole process. There's a reason(s) I'm morbidly obese, and simply having surgery and losing the weight isn't all that's needed for a full and complete recovery.   Having been through many pscy classes myself, and some great counseling years ago (the best thing I ever did for myself), I realize the importance of mental HEALTH and have promised her I will participate in any counseling she thinks I need or I think I need or my docs think I need.  I have read many posts here on these forums where folks question the psyc evals and get disappointed when told they need some counseling BEFORE having the surgery.  Believe me, there's a reason those psyc evals are ordered and are SO very important. Getting counseling when needed is a gift to one's self.  I know.  Been there done that.  And I'm all about going again if I need to.  I lived through a depression that about killed me.

Carol,  I send you a BIG HUG and support.  Life does get tough at times, and we have to fight back with all our might.  Please find a good counselor that you can lean on.  I hope that your weight loss hasn't been too fast.  It worries me that someone loses 100 lbs. in 5 months.  THAT is a lot in a short time and your body is experiencing changes it's not able to keep up with. I hope you will speak with your doctor for both physical/chemical balance help as well as a mental health professional.  I'm here for you and you are already blessed by having a great friend posting on your behalf.
