Hi All -

I've been struggling a bit, as I know some of you have, with how to most effectively and successfully manage the upcoming holiday feasting. I decided to check out the diet/nutrition forum and found a nice post by one of the nutrionist. I think most of the info is common sense, but I'm still going to print out to help me as I navigate these waters in my new body. I thought I post the link here so that you all could access it as well if you are interested.

P.S. If you have any strategies, ideas or recipes for managing the upcoming festivities, I'd appreciate hearing what you've got.

My orriginal plan was to not even participate in the thanksgiving and Christmas feasting this year. I even told my family back before surgery that I wouldn't be doing those sorts of get togethers this year to help me stay on track while I am working my way through this journey.

However, my hunger still has not returned, so I am planning to attend our family's Thanksgiving get together with confidence that I will only eat what I can handle and eat healthily. I LOVE turkey and that has some wonderful protien. I've also begun eating some veggies in small portions along with my protein so, I am looking forward to having 2 oz of turkey and an oz of vegetable this Thursday.

You know what I struggle with the most? Dealing with others who simply can not get their minds around me only eating such small portions and constantly asking me, "Don't you want some more?" One of my good friends, I've had to really get firm with about this and tell her that she just simply has to STOP trying to put more food in front of me. End of story, no further discussion about it! lol... they simply don't get it sometimes, but that's ok! I'll help them get it. *wink*

Thanks for that link Barb, I'm going to go read now. :)

I am not in a festive eating mood.  I want to take this time off and get my church quilt done!  We had a Thanksgiving dinner at work last night.  I took very little on my plate and ended up sick to my stomach, I think, from the cucumber salad. Have a wonderful relaxing, restful holiday! Love, Diane
